How has Steven Hendry helped you?
He gave me guidance on investments, which I subsequently made with him. He discussed financial planning and showed me that I could afford to take early retirement, which I did. I find Steve to be very approachable, reliable and down to earth. I feel comfortable asking him anything about my investments and he will give a clear explanation, tailoring the discussion to just the level of information that I require. He has been very helpful and supportive to me, especially leading up to my retirement and following a bereavement, when financial matters are crucial, but thankfully, were resolved smoothly. Steve has gone the extra mile for me, in matters which were unexpected, but very much appreciated

Last week I left a negative review for Steven Hendry as nobody contacted me to arrange an initial appointment. They have since been in touch and explained that they rang several times, but there were technical issues that prevented them leaving messages. They were extremely apologetic, and asked whether we could still arrange a consultation. We have since met and my opinion of them has changed 100%. They could not have been more helpful and friendly, and even bought me flowers to apologise for the initial mix-up in communications! At our meeting we spoke at length and discussed all sorts of financial areas, and I am extremely satisfied with the service they provided, which was professional, courteous and showed extensive knowledge of pension options and investment opportunities. I could not be happier!

We really liked Steve's approach and how he explained what had felt like a minefield for us up to that point. He took a very detailed picture of our history and situation. We talked through what we wanted to achieve, out attitudes to risk (a very interesting and eye-opening exercise), and our capacity for loss - given that we have a good few years left before we look at retirement. Steve remained honest, sincere and dedicated throughout. We didn't feel pressurised at any point. We really felt that Steve had our best interests as the focal point and not about 'ensuring a sale'.

Over the three years we have been with Stonegate, we have seen overall capital growth (net of fees) comfortably exceeding that which we would have achieved with our previous strategy.
What could they have done better?
Bearing in mind our requirement, I find it difficult to come up with anything Mr Hendry could have done better for us. We have been very satisfied with his professional advice, expertise and most importantly, the results he has managed to achieve so far, considering the difficult nature of the financial markets and the impact of politics etc on the global economy.

When I was about 50 I wanted to amalgamate all my ISAs and other savings to make it easier to control /keep an eye on them and also in case I needed to draw down extra income when I gave up work. I asked friends and family members and Steven came highly recommended.
How has Steven Hendry helped you?
Steven gives clear advise. He has a range of products for investors from very cautious to risky and you can invest in one or more of these products to suit your attitude to risk. He is easily contacted by email or phone and he always prepares well for his visits to you to discuss future planning.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Steven has produced very good returns on my investments. Although it would not be hard to beat the Bank of England base rate, his recommendations have given me an excellent return of well over 20% in 3 years, so averaging about 7% a year after charges. (This is on one of the more cautious portfolios). By comparison an RBS pension investment I foolishly made 10 years ago, before I started taking Steven's advise, has increased in value by well under 1% a year (about 9% in total!).
What could they have done better?
If I was not totally satisfied with the service received, I would change financial advisors. So as I intend to remain with Steven Hendry he must meet my expectations.

I have known Steve for a number of years. I had various savings accounts and a private pension plan and needed advice as to the options available to me for the future. Steve was recommended to me by another client.

Steve guided me through the vast range of investment type available and got me to consider what level of risk would be appropriate to my circumstances. When I was made redundant with a generous redundancy payment, Steve helped me put it into a pension plan to make the most of tax benefits and invest the rest wisely. Recently he has been advising me on the ways of benefitting from the new personal pension rules , realting to annuities and income drawdown.

Upon retiring I needed to find the best annuity for some of my combined pension pots as well as investing the tax free pension lump sums I had received.
How has Steven Hendry helped you?
Steven found the best annuity on offer at that time taking into account my future requirements as regards my wife becoming a widow, inflation protection etc. Following discussions with Steven and filling in a risk assessment form he advised me on a suitable portfolio of investments based on my attitude to risk. He further suggested that I use my ISA allowance for that year and subsequent years until all my pension pot were in a tax efficient fund. Steven was able to explain the various aspects of annuities and investments in a way that was easy to understand that enabled me to make the correct decisions.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
I told Steven that my main aim was to not lose any of the capital in the portfolio and that it would hopefully at worst keep up with the rate of inflation. Upto yet the investments have exceeded my expectations. My annuity that Steven found was the best one available at that time. I know this because I checked on annuity compare sites which all agreed with Stevens' choice.

Steve is very diligent at the fact finding , which has consistency led to sound recommendations, both at initial investment stage, and also when making investment changes to accommodate year on year changes in our needs. We review attitude to risk regularly, and review investments quarterly. Steve is very knowledgeable and explains his review process and recommendations in detail. His access to a wider pool of expertise is helpful, and he seeks subject matter exercise when required. The investment information is available via a client portal, which is helpful and useful.

Steven is always available for advice and will always get back to you when he says he will. He is also willing to put himself out and will travel to meet you wherever you are. at the very first meeting everything was explained thoroughly and my attitude to risk was ascertained. The costs involved were also explained in full. On subsequent meetings and reviews Steven always explained everything and always listened to any concerns, as well as answering my questions in full.

It may make things easier to understand if some of the technical 'jargon' was simpler.

Steve is excelllant at explaining things to you in non complicated way. He undertsands how the market work and explains why . He puts a realistsic approach . When I first meet Steve about 5 years ago , the first thing he said was ' I look after you as if you were my Mum' .. And that is so true.. Full honesty and trustworthy is How I see Steve .. And he is good person to have on your side..

The only thing I would say is to just remind people of what's in the market. I had to query something with Steve, and it was something very simple . Ie the oil prices and the eurozone situation..

He communicates with us very well and we feel he has a very good understanding of our personal and financial situation. He takes time to explain financial aspects clearly. We review our portfolio with him on a biannual basis which also includes a re-assessment of our attitude to risk. We value the access to the online system to provide us with very up to date information on our portfolio. We feel we are able to contact him outside the regular reviews if we have any questions or queries. In recent volatile market situations he has issued a communication to provide an informed view of the current situation and its perspective in the longer term. We have a high level of confidence and trust in his management of our investment portfolio.
What could they have done better?
There has been very occasional delays in investing new funds. The online system has enabled us to identify these allowing us to alert him. He has always taken the appropriate action promptly.

Steve provides me with ongoing, consistent financial planning advice based around my circumstances and needs. I had a very low opinion of financial advice before I met Steve, however I have had my mind changed and can really see the benefit of having a good relationship with my adviser. We were uncertain whether my husband would be able to retire, I had to take forced early retirement due to ill health, so our income had already decreased and my husband's pension was quite poor. Steven explained that there were other options available and gave us as much reassurance as he could about the risks involved with these as neither of us are good at this and we were also asked to fill in a form which assesses how much risk you are prepared to take. He was, and has been, approachable, friendly and patient at explaining things to two people to whom the world of finance is a mystery. He also explained his charges which were also an area of concern to us but feel that for the advice and more peace of mind it is worth it.
What could they have done better?
We have only fairly recently started to use Steven so can't think there is anything at present.

My adviser is a person. He is able to relate to my needs and concerns and also reflect how these can mirror his own. His advise is therefore real and set-up for your average family man, like me. Talks in a language that is understandable for people with no Pensions knowledge. Has plenty of time to explain fully and the advice he has given us has been accurate, sound, safe and financially very rewarding.
What could they have done better?
I think because of all the previous miss selling issues within the industry he is tied down but very onerous compliance rules and I think this sometimes leads to an over cautious situation but we fully understand the constraints and the industry is definitely in better shape than it was and we are people who fell foul of the previous regime.
