I haven't needed any financial advice since my last meeting with Paul but when I do I will be getting in touch with him again. We've had a continued high level of service from Paul, receive regular updates relating to our financial matters, especially where changes may be suggested and recommended. Pensions are now being taken from our investments, so again Paul advised the most efficient way to take these, especially for the near future, when we still have access to alternative funds to finance our annual expenditure. No point in taking more currently when not necessarily required, and when tax implications may occur as a result! Communication is always clear, precise and well reasoned, especially during our annual review. In conclusion, we're still very happy with the information and service provided, by a very competent, approachable financial adviser.

Our investments/savings were distributed amongst a variety of companies, which made it very difficult to keep a track of and keep up to speed with. We'd realised a few years ago that we needed to address this situation but just didn't get around to it! After selling 1 particular asset we finally made contact with 3 investment advisers and had initial meetings to discuss what we were looking for and our expectations for our future financial planning. A few weeks later we met with all 3 companies again to hear their findings, proposals and suggestions, all of which were very similar. This was reassuring, but made our final choice of which company to choice quite tough. 1 was dismissed swiftly due to the excessive fees charged. It was then down to a choice between a large, national company and a smaller, independent business, which we finally selected. We preferred the more personal feel offered, the way the presentation was made, and the fact we felt very comfortable when talking with Paul, who is very amiable and easy to get along with.
How has Paul Clough helped you?
Paul discussed with us our lifestyles, typical/current annual expenditure, future plans and expectations. He assessed our investments/savings, looked at alternative homes for them, then after considering all factors, made a presentation to us of his findings, followed by his recommendations. This was made with clear dialect, and aided with interactive visuals on a large screen, which helped us clearly understand his suggestions. It was easy to change various scenarios during the visual presentation, which helped us to understand and visualise how our finances looked for the hopefully many years ahead of us. This gave us confidence that we should be catered for financially, even with low returns from our investments. Our risk profile was established as being low risk takers, which in the long term should minimise drastic changes/down turns in the financial markets.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Sadly not at present. Unfortunately our timing hasn't been the best to date, and the various world issues combined with the uncertainty of Brexit has meant the financial markets have been rather up and down....but this will hopefully improve in the long term. Obviously frustrating, so we just hope the losses encountered over the last year or so will be more than compensated for when the markets improve again.
What could they have done better?
To be fair to Paul, I'm not sure he could have done anything better with the unstable circumstances encountered since we enlisted his services.

I found Paul to be very informative, friendly and professional. I didn't feel intimidated and came away feeling my time had been very well spent. I will probably go back to Paul once my financial situation becomes more clear.

Paul has always listened to what I have asked for and not tried to persuade me to do things I am not comfortable about. He keeps me informed via email of any changes, or things requiring a decision. He is open and clear in his discussions, and always has time to explain anything where necessary.
What could they have done better?
I don't know what Paul could do better - he has, to the best of my knowledge, worked effectively on my behalf and given what seems to me to be good advice.

I located my advisor via an internet search, and then followed up with research into the company. The service received has been first class. The approach adopted by obtaining data then discussing in the home environment is comforting and brings confidence on boith sides. Formal option reports and predictions are very good and were explained in detail. On conclusion we realised some early wins. Highly recommmneded as i have done to som eclose friends. We are in the embyonic phased of contimuing advice but i have every confidence this will be fruitful and secure.
What could they have done better?
Financial jargon is always difficult for the layman. Advsiors should always ensure the customer has clearly understood.

As this was the first time I have used an adviser, Paul was very friendly, he explained what options I have very clearly, he consolidated all of my pension funds, and searched the market for annuities, and got me a good annuity, which I am satisfied with.
What could they have done better?
I don't" think Paul could have done anything better, as I am happy with the outcome that he has done, for me and my wife.

Paul took time and effort to fully discuss with me what was my current financial position, the options open to me for investment and savings, used analysis to present options to me and to understand my financial needs and my attitude to risk, and fully discussed the risks and benefits of those options to produce a clear way forward for me to invest as per his advice but at all times ensured I was happy and fully understood the financial options for savings and investment discussed and eventually chosen. In addition to the positive face to face meetings with Paul I received written reports on our discussions and outcomes that gave me time to clearly go over our discussions and see the process mapped out and Paul took the time to use the reports to repeat how we arrived at the agreed recommendations. The costs of advice were clearly set out and explained by Paul.
What could they have done better?
As Paul did a very professional job and took a real interest in matching best advice from him with my personal needs I can offer no constructive suggestions as to how we could do it better.

Easy to approach, and responds in understandable terminology. Not pushy or 'hard selling'. Happy to give general advice, even if not directly related to investments sitting under Paul's 'umbrella'
What could they have done better?
Handles the existing portfolio well, but potentially could be taking more initiative to highlight new / additional investment opportunities (without going 'over the top'). A full review of finances (rather than just review of managed investment performance) would probably help to stimulate this - although in mitigation, being overseas does not make this so easy.

This is the first time we've taken financial advice - following my leaving employment and setting up my own business. I was put in touch with a financial advisor through my former employer who had a national contract with the company concerned. I also sought out an independent financial advisor in my home town and met up with Paul. It was very clear in the first meeting with Paul that we would be getting a more personalised service tailored to our circumstances. Risks were very well explained and a balaced portfolio developed to meet our needs. In the 3 months since the initial investment the potfolio has performed extremely well - exceeding expectations. It's still very early days in what is a long term investment, but so far we are completely happy with the service Paul has provided.

Provides first-rate financial advice and guidance all at very competitive costs. His work has given us clear direction for our wills, financial investments and inheritance tax implications. He dicusses on a regular basis our investments and gives us sound advice as to whether we need any 'adjustments' to be made. If so, the matters are attended to in very quick time.

For the past seven years Paul Clough has steered us through a financial minefield which has included early retirement from work, advice on inheritance tax, provision of an adequate and realistic pension, regular reviews and advice about investment in a volatile stock market, and explanation of any complex financial innovations which affected us. Paul Clough gives a very professional service. Giving a great deal of time to fully understand my attitude to risk, which has changed over the years I have dealt with him and he has given advise accordingly. He has also given a full explanation as to what recommendations he is advising and why these changes are necessary. I also received a full written report on the outcome of the consultation. If any changes are necessary between consultations written advise is sent, any questioned I either email or telephone with, these are dealt with promptly . Paul has a way of explaining what is a complex subject in simplistic terms which even I understood, this is very reassuring as is can be daunting dealing with money which has been hard earned.
