How has Ian Sparks helped you since your last review?
Ian has introduced a secure on-line portal where we are able to view investments, documents etc and I can send secure messages to Ian and scan documents to him. This year it helped enormously due to COVID-19 and not being able to meet in person. The portal enabled me to view my investment information easily and we discussed all aspects. I can see this new system working very well either as a standalone service or as a complimentary service alongside our usual annual reviews. It is also beneficial that I can access my investment and pension information whenever I like to keep an eye on them. Ian has upped his game once again with customer care and technology to help his customers.

Having built up quite a sizable savings pot over the years, and with interest rates being so low, I needed some professional advice as to the best place to make long term investments. I also needed some pensions advice.

It is too soon to say, but I feel confident in the advice that I was given and Ian made it very clear regarding the possible outcome of dealing with stocks and shares investments. You can only make a decision based on historic performance, but you can't see into the future!, but Ian helped me to mitigate that risk by assessing my attitude to financial risk and applying that to my investments.

I was about to retire and needed advice on several pensions I had taken out.
How has Ian Sparks helped you?
I chose Ian after reading several reviews on various web sites, straight away Ian made us feel at ease, he offered to come to our house but we chose to visit him. When we arrived at his home we were made to feel very welcome and relaxed. Ian spent a lot of time going through a mountain of paper work I had accumulated over many years. He explained all his proposals in detail, (some several times when we couldn't quite grasp it). At no time did we feel pressured into making any decisions. I feel the advice Ian has given us has certainly made my future retirement years a lot more secure.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
As I only employed Ian's services 9 months ago I cannot give a complete analysis of my finances as I'm yet to fully retire, but the advice Ian has given me ref. my state pension while still working is something I would never have thought of doing, and I'm now confident of a secure retirement.
What could they have done better?
In all honesty I don't think Ian could have done anything to improve our experience, he was very respectful and at no time did we feel we were being pressurised into making any decisions.

I was unhappy with the large firm of financial advisers I had been using - they had a rapid turnover of staff; I had 4 different advisers in 8 years, with no notice and no say in the replacement when they left. I wanted an independent financial adviser of my choice, local to me, who would be likely to stick around for the longer term.

Looking for options on funding retirement

Ian provided guidance on the options available and advice on how to best utilise the funds available. He also followed up with to make sure that I understood and had acted on his guidance, this resulted in me saving a large amount of money that would have been recouped by my previous employer.

With Ian's guidance I was not able to reinvest my funds in the way that we discussed. However I will be seeing Ian's guidance / advise now that the rules have changed.

The assistance that Ian provided has resulted in me already saving a considerable sum of money due to the clauses in my previous employers pension schemes. Therefore I don't think that Ian could have done any thing differently and as we couldn't reinvest in the way that we would have liked, Ian returned any fees that we had paid.
