What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for a financial coach?

I was given the opportunity to work with Corin via a workplace initiative and I have been happily working with him since.

How has Corin Gibbon helped you?

Corin and I catch up quarterly to discuss my ongoing financial planning and any particular questions I have. This has really helped me understand the benefits of saving and future planning, which is an area which I have little understanding. In particular I have set up a savings pot via a lifetime ISA as well as reclaming tax paid on my pension contributions. Both of which I wasn't aware of prior.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely. I have now a fairly robust financial plan as well as a much better understanding of my personal finances.

What could they have done better?

There isn't really a lot that could be done to make the advice I have received any better. Personal finances are not something that are easily accessible but I have found the way this information is presented very understandable.

Corin was personable, open and extremely helpful when it came to providing insights about how to strategise savings/bank interest rates in the context of our mortgage interest rates. He tailored the session to my specific concerns (sending me links to pension consolidation support), and he is a warm person which made the session enjoyable rather than it feeling like an uncomfortable sales pitch. Fantastic - would definitely trust Corin with giving sound financial guidance and advice.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for a financial coach?

It is a benefit offered by my company.

How has Corin Gibbon helped you?

He helped me building a financial life plan, taking into consideration my personal goals, and seeing how I can optimize it over time. We are looking at all the different options, I educate myself at the same time as I take more control of my finances. He expresses no judgement on any questions/discussion, I feel very comfortable talking openly about money and starting from scratch.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I see this as mentoring - after only 2 sessions I definitely feel more confident about how to navigate money-related decisions for both the short and long term.

What could they have done better?

For now I really think that, with only two sessions, we couldn't have covered more topics.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for a financial coach?

A change in family circumstances has meant home ownership is now a viable long-term financial goal for my family. In addition we have recently become parents and I wanted to ensure I had a clear picture of our long term financial position so we can provide a stable financial bedrock for our child as they progress into adulthood.

How has Corin Gibbon helped you?

Corin sought to understand our long term goals as a household - that of home ownership through a mortgage, a stable retirement and to ensure that we are as sensible as possible with our money in the intervening years. By drawing on financial information about our household and factoring in planned periods of study and expected revised salaries following on he was able to provide a clear and honest financial forecast and provide viable suggestions for improving our long term financial position, principally through informed investment choices and ensuring that our savings and pensions were earning the best returns for us in the long-term. He also sought to address shorter-term goals around more effective budgeting and has signposted to a wealth of resources in this area. We will have regular meetings to ensure I am on track in achieving the goals set and review options in greater detail as the need arises.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. I have achieved a degree of clarity on my finances which was previoously lacking and feel I have viable long-term and short-term goals we can now work towards as a household.

What could they have done better?

No suggestions to make here. Corin is clear communicator, professional, warm and knowledgable.

Corin really took in my personal circumstances and unique situation regarding my nationality and residency to assist me in my financial goals. He was able to highlight potential pitfalls in my current financial plan and escalated my concerns. Additionally, I felt it was easy to map out the basics of financial wellbeing and what next steps I could take to build my well and ultimately achieve financial freedom.

We only had a brief conversation where Corin quickly identified that he wasn't the right person for me to talk to. He still gave me some useful tips on my pension and put me in touch with a colleague who will be able to help with my specific case.

It has been on my mind for sometime as I don’t know the best things to do about my money & future.

Corin was very professional and personable. He was open an honest about the service and didn't push a further consultation as it really wouldn't have benefitted me. It gave me a couple of points to think about re my short term goal which was great. I would definitely recommend him.

Great experience with Corin, very knowledgeable. I wasn't a fit for him/MoneyWealth, due to the complexity of my finances. Corin was very clear about this early on, yet still gave me c.45mins of his time educating me on pensions and ISAs, which was much needed and I was very grateful for. Work aside, he came across as a genuinely nice guy.
