What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for a financial coach?

As I look to achieve my future goals it was apparent that I needed to get my finances in place & build/stick to a solid plan that would allow me to meet my goals. I also wanted to become better at budgeting & cut down on the unnecessary spending that was eroding my finances.

How has Crystal Tse helped you?

Helped me to realise which areas of my finances need improving & offer ways to improve on them. Helped to build a dynamic financial plan that will forecast how my money will change in the future.

It was a short meeting, as I intend to retire this year, therefore Crystal could not go through the options available for planning my retirement. However Crystal did suggest that I engage with a Financial Adviser on how to manage my Pension Fund after I had gone into retirement.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for a financial coach?

I'm a strong advocate for the principles of coaching and mentoring and believe it's important to step back from the day to day to think about our bigger picture with the help of someone who will question, challenge and support. Whilst financial advice comes in many forms, it's often geared towards financial product sales and therefore doesn't look holistically and I've had financial advice in the past which hasn't quite hit the mark for me. I wasn't directly looking for a financial coach but I was working on company and personal growth plans, both of which contain financial elements, and I was curious about how a financial coach might be different.

How has Crystal Tse helped you?

Crystal is a great coach. She is one of the best I've come across in terms of her skill in listening, understanding and reflecting back. She's not afraid to challenge and ask the difficult questions whilst also being supportive and encouraging. Whilst the focus has been on my personal long-term financial planning (for instance, exploring future retirement scenarios), I am also in a growth phase of my business and Crystal's coaching and the modelling tool have helped me to change my mindset and perspective around some of the business growth options I was considering. What Crystal has helped me to model are, not the business plan scenarios, but the potential personal financial and lifestyle outcomes of different options. That has been an unexpected and very positive experience in helping me shape my business aspirations.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I won't be able to truly answer that question for about another 20 years! What I can say is: 1. The journey so far is giving me the information and scenario modelling to know where I am and what options I have to optimise my situation for the future. Sometimes, the outputs are counter-inituitive and make me think about options in different ways. 2. I was curious about how financial coaching might differ from financial advice and it does. I feel like Crystal is working with and for me, helping me to think about the whole picture rather than looking for products to sell me. I feel like I have someone in my personal financial corner at a very reasonable price. The modelling tool is fantastic for plugging in different scenarios to see how they alter the financial situation and this really takes the coaching to a different and very tangible level.

What could they have done better?

We can always improve and I am sure the tool will keep evolving functionality but there's nothing specific I can think of right now.
