Hi Sarah Having responded to your enquiry by email and advised you of information you were not aware of - your response was that I had enlightened you to significant costs that you were not aware of. It was quickly determined that as a result of these costs your enquiry could proceed no further. It is only for this reason that I did not discuss our charges as I had no intention OF charging you for initial advise. I am sorry that you felt I did not serve you well - I endeavoured to advise you as best I could and give you my opinion that your dream could not be realised due to costs you had not been made aware of before I advised you of them. Namely LBTT.

We wanted to make some home improvements and continue to have holidays whilst we were in good health. To do this we decided to release some equity from our home.

How has Rita Davidson helped you?

Rita was great, visited us at home and explained everything clearly, making sure we understood in full. We felt positive that this was the right way to go ahead but Rita advised us to discuss this with our family first. They were all supportive and confirmed that as it was our home we should release some equity to enable us to have our holidays and make some improvements to our home so that we could enjoy life whilst we were both able. Rita found a plan that was suitable for our needs. The experience was simple from start to finish and we were surprised how quick it was.

I knew so little about Equity Release apart from advert on TV . My views were you had to give up part of your home , no longer owning 100% . My solicitor recommended Rita Davison to myself , the ideal person to explain all to me . On Rita's visit she went over everything with me, repeating herself many times, to make sure I understood the whole equity release process. She went to great lengths to get me the best deal , final amount was slightly more than we thought I would get. It was wonderful news , Rita was as happy as I was . She acted in a very professional manner all through our visits and was so knowledgeable about Equality Release

I am more than happy with the final outcome. I can now go ahead and complete works in my home making my surroundings more comfortable for me in my older years . No monthly payments are required , that's the outcome i chose..

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I wanted professional advice with regard to equity release. I researched information on this because I had read some adverse reports on the topic. I looked into information provided by the Daily Telegraph and followed it up. My personal circumstances are such that I could only benefit from the equity release and at the same time stay in my present home. Downsizing in my area was not an option as only 4 and 5 bedroomed houses are being built or I could buy an 'expensive' tiny flat in a 4 storey property with no garden and no funds left over!

How has Rita Davidson helped you?

Rita Davidson was recommended to me and I found her to be extremely professional. I did, in fact, at the time of discussing the equity release route, wished I had known her when I was looking for a mortgage AND also transferring a company pension (having taken out a SIPS which was a big mistake). I am sure I would have been given far better advice and help than I have received in the past. She explained everything and answered any queries which I had. There was no pressure to go ahead and finalize anything and I was given plenty of time to discuss with my solicitor and friends etc. before making the final decision. If, in the future, an opportunity arose to downsize into something affordable, I would certainly seek advice from Rita with regard to selling my current house, paying off the equity release and purchasing something cheaper. I am presently very happy in the knowledge that I may remain in the house I have enjoyed for the past thirty years.
