I was looking to buy my first house and needed advice on mortgages and insurance. My sister had used Steve before and recommended him to me.

How has Steve McKernan helped you?

Steve was able to find the most competitive mortgage offer for my circumstances and also to set up life insurance within the specifications that I requested. Steve was on hand throughout the whole process of buying my property and helped me with contact with my solicitor, particularly in the final couple of weeks to ensure that we were completed within the time scale that I wanted.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, I was really pleased with my mortgage offer and it came within the budget that I had given to him. My life insurance was also set up with ease.

What could they have done better?

I found Steve to be really helpful. He was particularly good at communication and we had several phone calls over the weeks where Steve was able to update me on progress and talk me through processes that I was unsure of. I was really pleased with his services and can't recall anything at present that Steve could have done better for me at this time.

He was invaluable during our house search, always at the end of the phone if we had any questions. He was very quick organising an agreement in principle for us when we needed one. And again, when we actually applied for the mortgage, he made it hassle and stress free.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was moving house and needed a mortgage. I'd been refused a mortgage from several lenders due to a lack of income whilst I was a stay at home dad. I was advised to go to Steve.

How has Steve McKernan helped you?

Steve responded to me quickly. He found me a mortgage that I was eligible for even though I only had 2 months worth of payslips. He came to see me to explain the mortgage in detail and answer any questions I had.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I got fixed period mortgage that I needed to buy my house. When the renewal was up I went to Steve again. I did eventually go with another lender. However his response to my request and follow up questions were quick and professional.

What could they have done better?

The period of my mortgage went by quickly and Steve could have been proactive in contacting me for a renewal. Instead I went to him. However as I busy man, I can understand other work commitments getting in the way of contacting me.

As I was on Tier 2 Visa and was refused for mortgage for buying house as we were spending money on rent and various other fees including estate agent fees etc, Mr McKernan was very helpful in advising us and securing us a mortgage for our first home. Thanks Steve

I gave him all the document which he asked for and he was very honest in mentioning that he will try to get a mortgage but he cannot be sure that can get one and we were happy with that as we tried our best but could not get it ourselves. I really appreciate his honesty.
