What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

After approaching my bank for a Mortgage I was offered Offers that l found to be least favourable and thus decided to seek assistance from an Independent financial adviser

Tim was referred to us by a friend when we decided to stay looking at buying a house

Tim was a huge help to us in buying our first house. Tim helped us to find the right lender and gave great advice and support throughout the application process. When we found a house, progress was very slow and because of this, our initial mortgage offer expired. Tim supported us with extending the offer with our lender, but unfortunately the property fell through. We quickly put an offer in for another property and again, Tim was there to sipport us by updating our mortgage application for the new house. It was a very long process but it was great to have the advice and sorry from Tim, always friendly and professional!

From the initial discussion with Tim he clearly understood our mortgage requirement and as a result very quickly identified a suitable mortgage product. We were struggling to get a mortgage with our previous broker because of covid related lending criteria tightening and the nature of my partner's employment contract. The original broker was slow to answer queries and couldn't even provide us with a mortgage in principle after several weeks of sending in paperwork. So glad I gave up and tried Cherrywood Mortgages. Tim found us a mortgage offer straight away, and provided support throughout the whole process.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We were looking for a mortgage broker to help us secure a mortgage on our first home. I am self-employed and my partners work situation is quite complex but Tim made everything easy! We were initially with another mortgage broker but getting nowhere and we were worried about swapping to someone else so far into the process but it was the best decision we made.

Tim has been exceptionally helpful throughout the whole process of buying my house. As a first time buyer, buying a property on my own, I had very little idea of what I was doing, and Tim was a great help in explaining everything that needed to be done - I felt that no question was too stupid to ask! Being self-employed for only a short period of time, having recently changed my surname by deed poll and buying a house in the middle of the pandemic meant getting a mortgage was not straightforward. Tim was really reassuring about these problems and worked really hard on my behalf to get the mortgage approved with the bank. I received prompt replies to all my emails and Tim would regularly call and email just to update me on how things were progressing. Tim seemed to genuinely care about my house purchase and getting everything sorted with the mortgage. I cannot recommend Tim enough.

Tim has been fantastic in helping us finding our first mortgage. He was available all the time to talk to us about worries or concerns, was prompt in starting our application and kept us up to date regularly in changes. This was helpful with my shift work, he was always considerate towards my availability in the day whether at work or sleeping during the day after nights. The first house we chose had a poor home buyers survey, the estate agents were pressuring us to make a decision. Tim had a chat with the estate agents; he stood up for us when the estate agent was rude and accused us of wasting their time. We have now found our perfect first home and should be moving in soon! We were looking for first house but didn't know where to really look and had specific circumstances. Both full time, but one probation, with a limited 5% deposit.

How has Tim Steer helped you?

Helped us understand the products, benefits and disadvantages of. Secured us a really good mortgage, was really professional. I could ask him questions when I was unsure. He took care of all the mortgage stuff, he just needed the documents from us and he did the rest. Due to a credit rating that wasn't perfect we were knocked back and thought it wasn't going to happen but he pulled an even better mortgage than the one that knocked us back. He was genuinely happy and excited for us too. We've got the mortgage and house, ftb and no chain, really easy process, really quick too. He even checked in twice afterwards to see how things are.

Me and my partner were looking to buy our first house but we didn't think we would be able to get on the ladder due to my current debt (it's all managed and paid but looking online it does reduce what certain mortgage lenders would offer.) A friend of mine recommended Tim and said to talk to him before writing off the possibility of getting a home.

How has Tim Steer helped you?

Tim was great, he gave us what I feel was 100% honest advice. He gave us plenty of mortgage options to consider while recommending which ones he thought would be more beneficial in our situation. Any questions we had or concerns Tim was able to answer very quickly and again I feel everything he said was honest and in our best interest.

Yes we have in that me and my partner completed yesterday and we got our dream house!

As first time buyers we got in touch with Tim after a colleague who recently bought a house recommended him. Tim got us a good mortgage but did so much more as well. He was keen to work, chat or help at pretty much any time of day. He helped guide us through the whole house buying process, including looking up home and life insurance cover options for us and recommending handymen and builders he knew. He stayed in touch helping with home insurance and suchlike long after we'd got the mortgage agreed and he had been fully paid.
