What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I wanted to start saving seriously for my future and I knew that having a financial adviser, who would put together an investment and pension plan for me, would keep me far more accountable than any vague goals I might set myself of putting a certain amount of money aside into a savings account each month.

How has Stewart Twidle helped you?

I had initial conversations with a number of financial advisers. I decided to go with Stewart because I felt he really took the time to get to know me, my husband, and our specific situation. He put together a comprehensive yet easy to follow investment and pension plan for us. He was also incredibly supportive of my decision to move from employment to self-employment (most other advisers I spoke to didn't understand why I'd want to take the risk). We now speak to Stewart several times a year, when he updates us on our investments and assesses whether our investment strategy needs to be updated in any way. We can also get in touch whenever we need to for one off services or any questions we might have.

Yes. We're saving the amount set out in our investment plan and we're seeing those savings grow at a rate we're pleased with.

I set myself a new years resolution of putting my financial affairs in order. I run my own business and have a young family and hadnt previously managed to find the time. Stewart tidied up my various life and pension accounts, took me off the various expensive management policies for my pensions and life covers and streamlined them into more manageable accounts, drew up my will and is reviewing my property portfolio with the aim of consolidating ahead of my retirement.

Absolutely. Stewart has given me a greater peace of mind. I finally feel in control of my finances with his un-biased help. I needed advice with regard to an inheritance. I also wanted to get advice with regard to longer term planning for my financial situation and that of my children.

From our very first meeting Stewart has been very approachable and has taken time to explain the financial situations that are available to me. I received advice and support with how to maximise my inheritance along with the best long term investment possibilities. Stewart looked in detail at my circumstances, my aspirations, and how I could best achieve them. He also considered my views on degrees of financial risk. This involved looking at investing in a property and therefore available mortgages that fit my financial situation. Stewart also took time and effort to look beyond the obvious and investigated HMRC obligations on my behalf.

I have just exchanged contracts on the purchase of a small investment property so one of the outcomes has been achieved. We wanted to move home and keep the previous property as an investment. Also I needed to restructure my pension plan and get life and critical illness insurance for me and my partner.

How has Stewart Twidle helped you?

My partner was initially unsure of how we would be able to buy a second property. He ran various calculations and drew a plan showing us in detail how we might be able to do it. With the insurances he very carefully advised us on our options and products. Whereas before my pension investments were performing poorly, he now oversee them and advised us on what we should be doing.

We moved into a house in the country a couple of weeks ago and have great tenants in our investment property, paying our mortgage and providing a good income to our family. I feel confident that the pension plan is performing at its best and our insurance re all sorted.

Stewart has now found two mortgages for me. Stewart tirelessly researches the best providers on the market and presents a range of options to suit my needs to allow me to choose based on the criteria that apply at the time. Stewart combines a highly professional service with a very personable and friendly approach. Stewart, as a family man himself, is able to empathise with those planning for a young family and he understands that financial matters often involve highly charged and sometimes conflicting emotions. He never takes sides and is always very diplomatic in the way he presents the facts and allows you to find the best solutions for your own particular circumstances. He is also very accommodating of his client's needs and always seeks to help, whether that means working late to allow for an evening meeting, attending sessions via Skpe rather than on person, or working with a US based counter part to facilitate a relocation from the US to the UK.

Stewart and his team really are very good and there are only a couple of minor tweaks, in the area of administration, that would improve their service.

I have always found managing my investments a little daunting. I don't have the time or inclination to follow the markets. It brings me great peace of mind to know that someone who cares about my financial welfare also manages my investments. He seems very knowledgeable and always keen to be at the top of his profession, and most importantly he is personable and makes complicated things seem so simple. I would, and have, recommended him to friends and family!

What could they have done better?

I really like how Stewart follows up the meeting with an action list of tasks to be completed. It's a great way to keep track of who is doing what. I would really like to be able to share his valuations and bank statements in the cloud - easier to access and better for the consumption of trees! I have told Stewart this feedback already and he said it's something they will look into.

Firstly, I just want to say that Stewart continues to provide me with excellent advice in a friendly, understanding manner. A year ago he helped my wife and I set-up our financial protection and insurances, making sure we had enough for any unexpected events in the future should we become ill or even worse. It may sound morbid but it's good to know we're fully covered, especially now we have a son, so if anything happens to either of us we know he'll be well cared financially throughout his childhood and beyond. Last time I left a review I said that I was going to be getting mortgage advice from Stewart and when I did I would report back, well all I can say is fantastic work. Stewart and his team went well above and beyond what I expected and provided us with a great mortgage at a great rate. As Stewart put in the effort to get to know us as people rather than just clients, he was aware of our life plan. Knowing this he made sure that the mortgage product he provided was fully portable so that when we moved house (which we literally completed yesterday) we could take our mortgage with us and not worry about any redemption penalties. He even managed the top-up mortgage application and made sure we were fully financially stable for the long-term. I honestly could not rate nor recommend Stewart and his work ethic any higher.

What could they have done better?

In all honestly, I couldn't have asked anything more of Stewart, he has planned for our future and made us happy in our present. I will certainly continue to use Stewart for a long, long time.

Stewart is enormously genuine and sincere. He establishes trust by being open, informal and approachable, and by taking considerable pains to get to know his clients and their detailed circumstances. In like manner, he keeps himself at the front edge of his profession by investing in his professional networks in order to stay abreast of developments. In my own case he has unscrambled some investments which were no longer appropriate (if indeed they ever were) and repositioned them. In a few months, he has already significantly improved the returns. But much more importantly from my point of view, he has given me peace of mind from knowing that these investments are now in safe hands. Stewart's office is small, but his staff are extremely competent and willing, providing a level of personal service which is extremely rare these days.

Very pleased with the service provided by Stewart. He is easy to understand and very helpful. Always answers his phone or responds to messages quickly. He kept us updated at all times and found us some really good products. I am confident he finds the products that are best for us rather than the products that are best for him as for one mortgage he recommended a remortgage with our current provided so I am not sure he would get any commission from this one. He is not pushy and I am happy to go to his office (where they provide me with a car parking space) with two young children in tow. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. My 1 year old crawls around on the (clean) floor and my three year old uses his highlighters to draw pictures on paper he provides her.

Stewart was absolutely fantastic. He really got to know us properly and was great at advising us to help us meet our life plan. Previously we only thought about the next 3-5 years, but Stewart made us think about our long-term future so that he was able to set us on the right track to achieving success. He really knows how to put one at ease and provided us with multiple options with various degrees of cover for us and our young family so that we never have to worry if the worst happens, he also wrote our wills too! Stewart was professional and friendly throughout and I really felt like I could trust everything he said as he was constantly reinforcing his advice with clear honest explanations. With our previous adviser we felt like we were being given bad advice for the adviser's personal gain, but with Stewart it was really refreshing to get honest treatment. We will definitely continue to use him in the future, and we deservedly recommend him.
