How has Stuart Read helped you?

Understood and questioned my needs, then matched to the correct product taking into consideration my views on risk. Advice on how best to reorganise a selection of individual pensions was well structured and understandable.

What could they have done better?

In this case nothing and I was very satisfied with the service. I also consider that I made the correct choice in changing from my previous financial adviser.

How has Stuart Read helped you?

Stuart as an easy guy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable with his advice. He helped my wife and I totally restructure our pension schemes which has proved extremely beneficial. I now feel in control of my own money and, with Stuarts help, we will be planning how to make the most of the opportunities available in a SIPP style pension

What could they have done better?

We have gone into trusts at the moment, within a WRAP (fund supermarket thingy) with a reasonable spread around providers. Stuart advised us on these funds but I now feel that I would have been interested in the ETF market as well. As I now have a certain level of control I have researched these and other instruments and will discuss these with Stuart next time.

From the point of first contact Stuart was the consummate professional. In terms of my insurance needs he took the time to thoroughly investigate my existing policies and their provision. He explained this clearly and fully and from there we investigated various different pathways to improving the cover I had and needed. All of our meetings and conversations were short, brief and focused. There was no rush to change and I always felt that I was in control of the decisions being made. Documentation was always clear and explained fully. I am very happy with the advice I received.

How has Stuart Read helped you?

Stuart has been very accessible, and even came up to Rutland to have a final meeting prior to finalising the pension arrangements. He has a very sociable manner, and is good at interpersonal relations. Stuart has investigated my pension options thoroughly.

What could they have done better?

Looking at the criteria for Quality of Service above - I'm not aware that I've been given on-line access to my pension portfolio. Stuart was not able to provide a specific document describing 'phased drawdown' at the time of our meeting - only after we'd agreed to the arrangements. There is no website or process that I am aware of which would allow me to compare Stuart's costs with other advisers or the sector average - and I did find I had to ask about charges and how they were based - rather than have them explained up front (partly this is my problem due to my financial illiteracy!)

How has Stuart Read helped you?

I needed my adviser to guide me through the final few years of my pension plans and investments while I was still working. He explained everything clearly and helped me to understand what I had thought was a minefield. When I came to cash in my pension provision earlier this year, he took charge of negotiating (where appropriate) with my various pension providers and getting the best deals. I was able to choose in an informed way between the various options available, eg whether to take a lump sum or not. He was always quick to answer any queries I had, by email, phone or meeting. His charges were made clear from the outset.

What could they have done better?

I cannot think of anything else I could have expected or that could have been done better. Stuart is the only financial adviser I have used but since he provided everything I wanted, I didn't need, or choose, to make comparisons or seek advice elsewhere. I will use Stuart when I next need any financial advice.

Stuart explains the facts of each policy in a clear and precise manner. He takes time to understand my requirements,my family and my business. I feel confident that pretty much all eventualities are well covered. I find his knowledge extensive and his advice is always impartial and sound
