What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I required assistance in reviewing whether it was appropriate to transfer my defined pension from a previous employer into a SIPP.

How has Paul Turner helped you?

Paul proven to be very thorough in his approach to understanding my circumstances and the reasons behind my transfer request. His initial approach was to get to know about me to ensure that as a potential client we would be able to build a positive working relationship and that above all else a transfer was right for me. From my perspective Paul as shown to have in depth knowledge and understanding of the pension markets and ever changing economic world. He has also been keen to listen to my ideas and expectations with a view to treating our business relationship as an ongoing partnership.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely. With the expectations that a correction in the financial markets was due, Paul has implemented a sensible long term pension plan for me, built upon his sound advice and experience. Everything has been transparent and clear. In addition Paul is supported by an excellent team who have proven to be both attentive and efficient.

Nothing. All advice and help has met with my expectations.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Mainly pension - I realised my current FA was not providing any service and my pension scheme seemed to have a lot of charges. Also, we were now parents of 3 (1 + twins!) and I wanted to ensure we had enough protection in place should something happen to either parent.

How has Paul Turner helped you?

Reviewed all our finances and current pension schemes, gave us projections based on current situation and showed how we could improve our finances and protect our children.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes - my pension in particuular will be improved with less charges and we now have all the policies in place for death, critical illness and long term sickness.

What could they have done better?

For me, nothing - I was very impressed with the advice and thoroughness of the recommended financial plan. Everything was very clearly outlined yet I felt no pressure to undertake anything.

Yes as I now know about all of my investments and can easily access on-line information when I want.

What could they have done better?

I think he appreciated what I wanted to do, basically being more in control of any investments and also making sure they were in the best place, and that's what happened. He made the whole process pretty straight forward and so I can't really suggest any way it could have been done better.

I went from long term employed status to self employed status and I needed some help with this that was given in a non-complicated manner.

Paul had an initial meeting with me to explain his services and we discussed my situation. Paul made information easy to understand and we agreed what further information he would need to progress further. As I was working away we exchanged information via email but Paul was always there to answer my questions. Paul made time on Fridays to meet up with me when I travelled home and has been fully appreciative of my circumstances

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We needed to know whether or not our pension plans were the right ones for us, and how to go about making changes to them. We also wanted to make sure our life insurance plans were giving us the protection we needed along with making sure the price we were paying was competitive.

He explained the alternatives that we could consider, clearly setting out the pros and cons, and did so with consideration given to our own personal attitudes to risk.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The provider for one of our pension plans has changed. The other will change imminently. Our life insurance policies are now much more suited to our needs, and at a far better price than our old policies. This proved more tricky to arrange, and more time consuming than originally thought; the FPP were helpful and communicative during the entire process.

The most important thing for me was the collaborative atmosphere where all things could be looked at and discussed. Secondly, it was very reassuring to see and understand that someone was dealing with the overwhelming amount of detail that the bureaucracies throw up. Paul has been my financial adviser not only since he founded the Practice 16 years ago but also for some years before that when he was with the Financial Services department of the British Medical Association. Paul knows mine and my family's needs, especially as doctors. He understands attitude to risk and respects that. He is always up to date, which i find most confidence inspiring-whether choosing a mortgage or an insurance policy or the best bank account. Paul respects the fact that i have no fundamental interest and a poor understanding of all things fiscal, though need to be secure and sure of my investments, levels of cover, tax liabilities etc. and explains matters in terms that understand.

I am perfectly satisfied with Paul's service-matters are pretty well established at the moment, however when there were changes to be made they all went smoothly and i feel I was well advised over the last 17 years . My tax return is pretty straightforward however i have greater confidence in Paul checking and submitting it, I dont want any nasty surprises, this has been gone smoothly each yer.

Paul is excellent, he has been my advisor for over a decade. I trust him completely and he's helped me out enormously in the past when I'm in a pickle, and is always a prompt repsonder and gives you the time you need if you need to speak to him. He will present you with options and help you decide, is very honest and believable.

What could they have done better?

Whilst it may be impractical, it would be helpful to get an email if he was going to be unavaiable on leave for a week or more. It would stop me ringing him or texting whilst he's driving to the airport or whilst away (he still replies even still) abroad.

Facts speak for themselves: I was recommended Paul Turner by a friend and have now been receiving advice from him for 13 years and I have in turn recommended him to close friends who I know are wholly satisfied with the service they receive. Paul really makes an effort in the beginning and at regular intervals to meet up in person and understand your priorities at present and aspirations for the future. He's guided me through being a young professional to buying my first house, subsequent house and job moves and worked to put a strong financial scaffold in place now I'm starting a family and looking ahead to my retirement. He and his team are always quick to repsond to any queries or changes in circumstances I have as well as being proactive in flagging up any changes in, for example, tax and pension law and being specific about how this might affect me. As well as face to face meetings they offer telephone and internet conferencing consultations at convenient times which is brilliant as I work full time. Family members in other parts of the country have looked for financial advice at times in the past and I know from their experience that Paul offers excellent value for money. In short Paul offers an exemplary service which leaves you feeling like it is important to him to understand you as an individual and handcraft the product needed rather than just trying to sell you something off the shelf which might not quite be the right fit - I would highly recommend him.
