What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Mark O’Neill was recommended to me by my daughter ( a solicitor) who has several clients already using Mark’s services. My personal circumstances required someone with empathy and extensive knowledge having recently been windowed mid house sale and a recent business sale. Basically I didn’t know which way turn!

How has Mark O'Neill helped you?

Mark guided me through a sensible investment plan giving me several options to consider. He visited me at my daughters home ( coping very well with two grandchildren and dogs) and then visited me at home to discus the options given. At no time did I feel pressured or confused by the services being offered.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Nine months in the investments are already showing good growth. I have received regular emails and documentation. Mark will re visit this week to go through the progress of my portfolio. All very reassuring.

Wanted a review of our existing pensions and advice on how to invest inheritance. Above all, wanted honest, trusted advice. Mark came highly recommended.

How has Mark O'Neill helped you?

An initial telephone conversation, e mail and face to face meeting. Mark was friendly and approachable, yet highly professional. Advised us clearly regarding his services and was upfront about fees. Not pressured in any way, and was not offered any service we did not need.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely, a clear and concise report, followed by detailed cash flow analyses and appendices to back up the information and advice outlined in the report. Too early yet to see the long term results of our investments. However, Mark's support includes regular contact and an annual detailed review to keep us updated. Exactly what we were looking for.

What could they have done better?

Nothing, Mark and True Bearing have been extremely professional, yet personal in our dealings with them, and I would have no hesitation in recommending their services.

With my chosen retirement date for my personal pension due, I received some unsolicited mail from a company offering a one off free financial advice service. However, my Pension Plan provider had requested that they supply my plan details, again and could I submit these on the enclosed form and return this to them. Alarm bells sounded on my part so I consulted the Pensionwise site.

How has Mark O'Neill helped you?

Mark reviewed my Pension and investments and eventually laid out a plan that I was completely satisfied with. Some suggestions were taken and some were not. No pressure was put on me to do anything I was not happy with.

Definitely. Even though the current climate is not too good, I am satisfied with things as they stand.

My annual review is most helpful. However, an email once in a while outlining a precis of current trends would be useful.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

A loss of interest with a long standing investment plan that was done through the Halifax and they no longer offer a financial advisor service, so was looking for a local Financial Advisor who could look at all our savings and investments and advise us on our future investments

How has Mark O'Neill helped you?

Mark went through all savings, ISA's, Premium Bonds and Investment plan and put a written plan together to make the most of what we had, and went through this with us and left us to read it and make sure it was what we require. He went through the different degrees of risks involved with different types of plans and we were happy with the recommendations he made.

At the moment it is too soon to comment on any outcomes as the new investment plans have only been active a couple of months.

What could they have done better?

I was very pleased with the way Mark dealt with us as a family. He was very polite, clear and made sure we understood what was happening and the costs involved before we agreed to take on his advice. He was very professional in dealing with us during the Covid 19 pandemic restrictions. I have no constructive suggestions as this was the first time in dealing with a Financial Advisor but am very happy to recommend him.

I had a reasonable financial portfolio but a chequered health record. While I had certain level of investment skill I wanted to work closely with an advisor that would enable me to maximise my investment returns yet accommodate the risk profile of my health issues.

How has Mark O'Neill helped you?

Mark was excellent in working to understand my, at times, complex needs and working with me tailoring his services to this needs. This meant we developed a great partnership addressing my needs. I have always felt that we each play our part and that Mark’s service and advice is pitched exactly where I want it.

Yes I believe so. There are many things in investing that remain beyond the absolute control of an investor or advisor. However, I have always been impressed with Mark’s insight and anticipation in relation to markets. Overall he has helped steer me and my investments through changing financial environments and my changing financial priorities and objectives over a decade. Together we have achieved those objectives consistently.

Over the years I had accumulated a number of old pensions, I felt that these required reviewing and to obtain professional advice to maximise their potential.

Mark has always been extremely professional in all his dealings with me. He is easy to talk to and very knowledgeable in his field of expertise. He is responsive to any queries raised and he or his office always get back to me quickly.

What could they have done better?

With hindsight, I would have been better deferring a pension, instead of taking it now, as it has tax implications now that I am self-employed. However, it seemed the right thing to do at the time. I think all IFA fees are expensive but then, you get what you pay for. Mark's charges are in line with others. I'm looking to reap the benefits when I get my next portfolio update; it's early days yet, so difficult to know whether the advice is very good or excellent.
