At the age of 84 I have had several financial advisers in the past. My previous adviser specialised in corporate work and was lacking in time and knowledge for personal advice. Abi was recommended to me by one of her other clients who has been very happy with the advise that she has received.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Having reached retirement nearly a year ago I was looking for advice on the best way of using my pensions which were just sat there doing not a lot really. So I spoke to Pension Wise and then to each of my individual Pension companies on what annuity offers they had and then read lots and lots of booklets that you are sent. Now, do you set up annuities from each separately or do you try to combine them. They all had something a little different on offer. Could I get More money? It was all starting to look just a little too involved.

I am 80 years old and used Hargreaves Lansdown for many years. HL's recent close association with Woodford broke the trust that I had for them and so I looked for an alternative IFA.

Having notified Abi that I wished to transfer my Spanish QROPS into a UK SIPP, Abi took it upon herself to look into the best way this could be achieved. Having been introduced to her colleague, Chris Dibbs, the transfer was instigated. The depth and scale of this transfer was huge, with many layers to uncover and advisors to work through. Abi oversaw this operation which was almost 2 years in its completion.

Most definitely my Aunts money has lasted much better than was first anticipated and has performed very well given the current climate. We continue to stick to the plan that we agreed with Abi. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had recently retired and had state and private pensions plus investments and savings on which I needed advice. I also had a lump sum available and was not sure what to do with it.

How has Abigail Stidworthy helped you?

She undertook a complete assessment of our present income, savings, investments and outgoings. An evaluation of our attitude to risk was also undertaken. Although I considered the present income which my wife and I had would be adequate to live on I was looking to invest a lump sum in a conservative manner, with a view to generating capital growth plus an income which could be taken as and when necessary. After numerous meetings with Abigail she produced a financial report detailing our situation and recommendations. I would like to say that she came across as a very friendly, knowledgable and competent advisor who explained things in a way that could be understood by the man in the street.
