We call Graham Martini Man - anytime, any place, anywhere! He always answers us when we reach out to him - even when he should be at family weddings or on holiday (which he really shouldn't do!) but that is how diligent and caring he is. He knows and understands us and our changing needs and whilst he cannot do anything about the sad state of the country and the effect on our investments he does do his utmost to manage these for us and to keep us safe. He is our financial angel and for that we are very grateful - especially in times of personal angst.

Nothing stops Graham from being there for his clients - not even a pandemic. Normally financial discussions can be confusing, unsettling and full of a feeling of dread and uncertainty. How nice it is when a ray of sunshine enters your home whether in person or via Zoom and reassures you that you are in safe hands. I had a small endowment and was looking for a way to make what money I had work for me. Initially I went to Graham's predecessor who, on retiral, chose Graham for his experience, knowing and professionalism to look after my finances and self. I have never looked back and am exceedingly grateful for that choice in so many ways.
How has Graham Brodie helped you?
Graham is a total gift as a person and in his many financial roles. Graham is himself a man of sensitivity and foresight, easily approachable and knowledgeable. I am never thwarted nor limited by my own ignorance in his company and he never comes from a space of superiority. He is able to explain what I am not understanding so I go forwards with confidence and assurance and he listens to my preferences, with openness whilst also advising what the many outcomes could be with all of it. In this way I come from our meetings better able to choose and with greater clarity around what options may be available.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Absolutely. I have someone who is informative, assists in easy explanations where I am unsure and also lays out the possible outcomes, so I can fully understand what I can choose, with a great deal of clarity. I always have an idea of the possibilities without wearing rose coloured spectacles nor being concerned about what I choose. We have very pragmatic conversations which have built a relationship based on trust. Graham has been a worthy successor to my first financial advisor.

Considers and can advise with ease even though my own views are somewhat different rather than the more main stream views. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?
I had several historic personal pension pots and felt overwhelmed by not understanding their performance, or potential worth. I needed expert advice on pensions and retirement planning, generally, to enable me to make the right financial choices.
How has Graham Brodie helped you?
Graham took the stress away from me completely. He contacted all my existing pension providers and produced a comprehensive report - which he took the time with me to discuss and explain, where necessary. He and his team sorted all the paperwork and organised a transfer into a fund, paying lower charges. There was one pension scheme which he advised me to keep where it was - it being a final salary pension. Graham sits down with me annually to discuss my pension growth and forecast - together with other personal financial matters. He seems to be genuine and I have never felt pressured to buy into any investment schemes.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Certainly, I feel less overwhelmed by pensions and the paperwork has reduced significantly! I am not yet at retirement age, but feel so much more comfortable that my retirement income will be rosier than I initially thought.
What could they have done better?
I'm not sure what could have been done better. Your financial adviser needs to be someone you feel comfortable with and whom you trust to work in your best interests. Yes, they need to earn a living themselves, but my impression of Graham is a down-to-Earth expert, who speaks in plain English.

Originally I was choosing to invest a small amount of money which had come via an expired endowment mortgage policy and since then I have found a world of education and learning about investment and financial advice invaluable.

Graham allows my financial knowing to grow. I have learnt so much having his services. He is so accessible, both supportive and flexible in his approach and approachability. I am aware that in life there are really few stupid questions more stupid (meaning unaware) people that dont ask. One of the many things I appreciate about Graham is he invites me to choose for me first and to question him when i dont receive clearly what is discussed. If I require more he is willing to present it in such a way that I still fundamentally am empowered. He is incredibly gifted and has great capacities with people and bringing out knowing.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Absolutely I love that I can ask anything and he is responds in the moment when present, or as soon as he is in the position to, is willing to support my evolution,. Graham also has a way of depicting the possibilities for growth whilst making clear both sides of the coin...literally, without making me feel like contracting and living in a world of wishing - he brings the practical/ on the ground knowlegde and information to a woman who does not always see the why nots! I am becoming more informed about and relaxed with finances which is a humungus gift. I am becoming less at the effect of money and more willing to invest in myself whilst receiving the support that gifts me greater confidence and also reassurance in the financial assistance I receive. Graham Brodie IS an immense asset in my life and the adventure of living and I am sure many others.

Finances were not tax efficient, not being managed properly by ourselves with a messy mix of old savings and investment products and pension provision was not sufficient. We needed a really thorough overhaul and to put some planning for retirement into place.
How has Graham Brodie helped you?
He assessed our current finances, aims and retirement ambitions. he then overhauled and streamlined our ISAs, set up SIPPS, enabled pension tax reliefs, invested according to our needs and risk levels and everything is totally transparent and available 24/7 to view online including any fees / charges. He also produced intelligent cash flow projections based on a range of variable inputs that we agreed with him. This means we can assess if and when we have the necessary funds to be able to fund our retirement at a level of income we choose.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Yes. We feel in control of our position, that it is properly and suitably invested, tax efficient and it has increased our focus on adding to our pension provision and receiving the tax relief which can then be working for us in the intervening years before retirement.
What could they have done better?
As we approach within a few years of retirement perhaps a guide to how it works in practice, time required to organise drawdown and how to decide if we should buy some annuity as well as taking drawdown. Maybe impossible to do but perhaps also some guide to 'normal' income requirements in retirement - it is hard to know how different our spending needs will be compared with current ones.

In honesty I have no hesitation in saying that Graham's services are a huge gift. I am really not sure what more he could do, that he does not already...he seems to cover all bases. I am however sure that if there were something I could just as easily tell him and what is fantastic is ...He would certainly take it on board and consider what else could be possible.

I do not have the expertise or the time to deal with the complexities of stocks and share, pensions, etc. and so that is why I engaged Graha m. At our meetings, he does not overtax me with complicated issues or jargon, he appears to understand my needs in this and when the options have been discussed, he will present me with the documents to sign. This is the simplicity I require. Graham has a manner and personality that I can trust, and I trust my own judgment on this, it works well for me.
What could they have done better?
As I am perfectly satisfied with the service I receive,and not having enough knowledge of differing levels of service, I find this a tough one to answer. But in the spirit of the exercise, I would venture to suggest that a fuller explanation of the roles of other people in the various devisions of the company would be helpful,

We have developed an excellent relationship with Graham, since becoming his clients. He has taken the time to get to know us as individuals and as a family and his advice is tailored to our specific needs in all areas. He is approachable, straightforward, well informed, organised and thoroughly dependable. All information is provided in written form after Graham has explained it to us, giving us time to consider our options. When making important decisions in relation to pensions, insurances or any other matter nothing is overlooked nor is it looked at in isolation as Graham has an holistic approach to all our requirements and has never let us down. The ultimate decisions are ours to make but thanks to Graham we can make informed choices based on facts and made in a personal context.
What could they have done better?
Perhaps the written reports could be emailed, optionally, rather than bound and posted as this must be an expensive process and every little helps in reducing fees and maintaining and pc environmentally company ethos. Also if there are changes which may affect our portfolio it would be good to be contacted outwith review periods, if it was Graham's opinion that we needed to alter anything - perhaps he does this aready and we have just not been affected by any relevant changes needing attention outwith our review period.
