How has Alison Treharne helped you?

Alison is a highly proficient financial adviser, who uses her contacts and experience of investment banking to good effect. She is always available to talk to and her written reports are comprehensive and easy to understand. What really makes Alison stand out from other financial advisers is her ability to connect with people and understand their personal circumstances, aspirations and level of financial expertise. She has helped me enormously with my investments and tax planning. She is also the only adviser I have had who has explained the potential impact of my attitude to risk in actual monetary terms.

What could they have done better?

How has Alison Treharne helped you?

Alison Treharne is an absolute genius with her finger constantly on the money market pulse. She is reassuring but always realistic. Since she has managed my portfolio she has recovered huge losses achieved by Lloyds Private Banking! In addition I have had valuable advice regarding inheritance tax which has enabled us to take steps to limit amounts payable. She regularly liaises with my Accountant who deals with HMRC and ensures the capital gain situation when selling stock, something no other IFA has ever bothered to do - and I have thus had huge, unnecessary capital gains to pay.

What could they have done better?

There really isn't anything she could possibly do better.

Ali was absolutely clear in her advice, not using jargon, not over-complicating matters but also being brutally honest in her approach. She actually made the subject matter interesting (I have to admit I find financial planning very dull as usually the terminology switches me off immediately because I simply don't understand all the complexities). I am sure Ali is used to dealing with clients with complex financial situations, lots of stocks, shares, savings etc., and I would not fall into that category but she made me welcome, assured me that she could improve my financial position (which she actually did within 3 months).

What could they have done better?

Probably advertise her services more - I have recommended her to a number of friends.

Anyone who can listen and employ such a high degree of professional ability coupled with exceptional talent in their field is to be valued. Alison Treharne is beyond value. Numerous "financial advisors" have failed to extend the level of care she has offered us, and consequently we never gained a clear strategy as a family and our financial growth turned to deficit. Alison not only set out a clear strategy for us, but found suitable products for us and ensured we understood what was expected of her, the products she suggested and - importantly - our responsibilities. She also kept in touch to make certain we stuck to the plan. I have always harboured doubts about financial advisors, never believing they fully have the interests of the client at heart. Alison is the one exception to this - she clearly cares and delivers excellence beyond a level anyone could expect.

I met Alison several years ago and I was amazed at her enthusiasm for her industry and the desire to be a Chartered Independent Financial adviser. I wanted to find out what was different about the service Alison offered compared to the adviser I had been using for years, it soon became very clear that the smallest detail but long term vision/client retention was very important to Alison and my family's financial wellbeing and planning. Many advisors in my experience just want you to change to this product or even criticize what has been done before to enable a sale and earn commission, Alison did not even try and sell me anything! but instead gave me advice on our cash ISA's...this for me was when I realised why Alison is different. Communication is so important to me, Alison regularly contacts me just to update on how my investments are working and she is also available if I have any questions regarding my finances. This I have never experienced with any advisor in the last 20 years! We have been investing with Alison for 3 years now and I have also recommended her to friends, colleagues and business partners because I believe she will provide a great service and will look after her clients for many many years to come.
