What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a final salary pension and required advice switching into a Personal pension

We had several meetings over a lengthy period to discuss wether this course of action would be appropriate. This meant I was able to make an informed decision in my own time

We had no idea what our pension pot would be and not considered how much we need to live on after retirement. David was very clear & thorough to help us with what we did and didn’t understand so we could work on this! We found him very personable and efficient to deal with. I was approaching the age of 55 and wanted to discuss my pension options.

I became self employed and needed to consolidate my pensions and find a product that suited my needs

How has David Sheehan helped you?

Dave looked at my pensions for me and provided clear advice and an honest comparison of the benefits and costs of the true potential platform which is so much clearer than any other pension provider's platform I have seen before. He also gave me the tip that I was over-insured under the income protection insurance policy I had taken out which will mean I can reduce my premiums! Finally for self employed people with an irregular income I think True Potential's impulse save feature will be brilliant - being able to put money whenever you want into your pension from as little as a £1 at a time will be so much easier than having to worry about having the cashflow in the business to put in a regular amount each month.

Undertook a detailed analysis of existing assets, income and investments, reviewed short, medium and long term goals and then recommended a suitable investment

Much too early to identify final outcome. Interim results have been mixed, with excellent early performance but significant negative factors in global economy have impacted on returns towards the end of 2018. Improving performance since then.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

To the ordinary person investments are a pretty complicated area of modern life. Trying to pick ones way through the complications is an area I am not comfortable to be in ......have I picked the right one....what about that one.....that one looks ok. and on and on and on. Had we attempted to do this ourselves there would have been too many thoughts over had the right choice been made,can I back out or is it too late. No not for me thanks.

We have known David for some time now and he enquired as to what areas we would like to invest in.What risks we felt comfortable with and did we have any specific ideas as to what period of time we should invest for. He did not come to us with any preconceived ideas of what we should do,he investigated our ideas and built on them.

So far everything is ticking along much as expected.

What could they have done better?

I cannot think of anything else he could have done for us. We a very satisfied. He seems to have all bases covered.

We were aware that our finances could be bringing in a better return but did not have the financial knowledge to deal with it.

He came to the house and was happy to spend the time understanding our needs and expectations. He then explained fully all our options, leaving us to think about it and come to our own conclusions. We have never felt under pressure but have always felt supported.The financial decisions were our own and David put them in to practice.

Our investments have increased more than they would if we had not done anything and having a steady growth is exactly what we wanted.

I was coming upto retirement age and met David Sheehan at a networking event. I needed to free up some money in order to be able to apply for some planning permission on our property and live in the meantime.

Dave helped me to sort out my pensions I had 2 - he gave me very clear sound advice and helped me through the process of moving them to the True Potential Wealth Management Platform.
