I was getting divorced and had a pension sharing order against my husbands private pension and was advised by my solicitor to get advice from a financial advisor.

Andrew keeps in contact with regular updates not only of my own portfolio but with other financial matters that he thinks may be of interest. He sought my permission to transfer my portfolio to another provider with lower fees and online access to my portfolio so that I can monitor progress as often as I like and performance has been exceptional. Pre covid we were having annual face-to -face reviews but understandably these are now via Zoom with onscreen access to all information, performance charts etc. This is probably the way forward. Whenever I have sought changes and/or information and whenever Andrew has recommended changes these have been attended to promptly. So all in all great service, value for money and performance outweighing the costs.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I contacted Andrew in my late 50s for advice on the best way to structure my finances to allow me to retire at age 60 on a modest pension until guaranteed income from state & overseas pensions would commence at age 66.

How has Andrew Woolhouse helped you?

He recommended a drawdown pension arrangement invested in a smoothing of investment returns type of pension fund based on the client's Attitude to Risk/Capacity for Loss.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely. The funds performed very well, with the fund total at age 66 only £2k less than when invested - despite 6 years' of income and the effects of COVID 19 on the financial markets!

What could they have done better?

I'm happy with Andrew's advice. He is very personable and doesn't mind explaining things in more detail, ensuring I completely understand everything. We meet annually for a financial review, and he is always available if any queries arise in the meantime.

I was in need of some financial advice mainly relating to pensions planning, critical illness cover and income protection. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had previously worked as a Financial Adviser, able to follow my own advice and deal directly with my pension provider. On ceasing to be a financial adviser, the product provider would no longer take my instructions and would only take instructions from a financial adviser. I had met Andrew when he worked for a major bank and I was contracted to a business owned by that bank.

How has Andrew Woolhouse helped you?

After a full discussion with Andrew during which he took time to understand my needs, plans and attitude to risk/loss he started to move my pension fund to other pension providers and we continue to do that from time to time. Future performance can never be known, past performance is never a guarantee for the future but charges and management style are known. Lower charges and a diversified portfolio have served me well over the four years that Andrew has been advising me.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I have been in Pension Drawdown throughout the time Andrew has been advising me. Pre Covid, the growth rate has exceeded withdrawals. So, yes, I have seen the outcome I was hoping for.

What could they have done better?

I'm not sure there is anything Andrew could have done better. Pre Covid we had regular face-to-face meetings and all recommendations were documented together with his reasons for making any changes. During Covid we have had a virtual meeting which I think is probably the way advice will be given in future. During this meeting Andrew was able to show graphics that helped me to follow his recommendation. After the meeting he provided a detailed recommendation letter. I'm happy to recommend Andrew to my friends.

House purchase and subsequent remortgage.

He set up a mortgage for us as well as life insurance and salary protection. He subsequently secured us a very favourable remortgage when the first one's preferential rates expired. He and his team carried out these services efficiently, professionally and personably. They helped us to negotiate several hurdles in the process and are very good at providing timely nudges to all relevant parties as and when needed.

Andrew was extremely helpful and friendly in our initial 30 mins conversation where he was also open about the service he provides and his charges. He also responded to my follow up questions with prompt and clear emails. I ultimately chose not to move forward with Andrew only because I had another option based on a personal recommendation, were it not for that then I would definitely have progressed to learn more.

Andrew was quick and flexible with his initial appointment and advised on the best course of action. He then worked hard at finding a suitable match with a financial institution as well supported us during the process. He has been absolutely transparent about the charges and income he would receive from the advice the only reason we did not rate him excellent is because we could not compare his charges with other financial advisers.

MY late husband looked after our financial affairs and when I was widowed I was recommended 'i Wealth', Mr Andrew WOOLHOUSE in Leeds.

He quickly took on board my changed circumstances and understood my needs and those of my two daughters ( aged 25 and 27) and was able to give welcome advice in what has been a very difficult time for our family.

YES. I have been able to resolve some complicated issues relating to the closure of my late husband's estate. I have received inheritance tax planning advice etc and recently my youngest daughter received excellent service from Mr Andrew WOOLHOUSE re a mortgage application and assoc. matters following her first house purchase.

Financial advisers are dealing with this type of issues everyday like I do in my line of work. But when it comes to monies and been able to live after work , this becomes very cloudy for people like me who through their life's know exactly what monies are coming and what outgoings is very clear when it comes to this type of life change it will take a number of discusions to get it right for us be slow and patient as Andrew did

I feel that Andrew likes to talk more about what we don't need instead of concentrating on what we do need! It is too early to say which way we might yet go, but of the two we have seen my wife preferred Andrew Woolhouse. But I just couldn't follow his line of thought. What I was looking for was a clear idea of what was available to us, but instead Abdrew wished us to consider if our two members of our family who we have already asked if they could act for us as Power of attorney for us who both live in London currently were too far away from us to be able to do everyday jobs if we needed any doing? As we are currently married and in complete control of our faculties what I didn't follow was who knows where they might be living if the situation ever arose in the future? But my reasoning isn't that my children should carry us, on the contrary what we want is two people who could act for us should we not be capable ourselves whereby surely our two children could appoint someone to do the fetching and carrying for us if this ever was needed? And more important do any of us know where in the future we might be living at such a time of need? So I wanted financial assistance if offered what might appeal to me, but what I didn't need was passing the time of day regarding hypothetical situations regarding where my children now are as opposed to where we all might end up at a future unspecified time! I rest my case that although my wife preferred Andrew, I am now writing down that I wasn't too impressed! I am alive to what Andrew was suggesting but I wasn't impressed to spend time on that subject as opposed to why I really wanted an indipendent financial advisor. It isn't that there was no merit in what he went into, it's more that in doing so we didn't get to know what I needed to know, so I am left still very much undecided. Only time will tell which way we go, but in the meantime I will not be considering if a metior land on my home if I would have been better off by moving?

Whilst you may not always agree with what we advise, it is said with best intention and advisers are not merely order taker to a client whim. We have a responsibility to point out to you financial issues and weaknesses. There is no point in creating a great investment solution or financial plan for you, if at the eleventh hour it falls down because the cost of long term care, inheritance tax or lasting powers of attorney have not been considered.
