What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

Having run businesses before I knew that a good accountat can make the difference between success and failure. So when starting my third business (ten years ago) meant I needed a great accountant.

How has Neil King helped you?

Neil and his team at Cedar and Co have been brilliant at reducing the amount of time and hassle we have on book keeping, accounts and pay roll. Quarterly management accounts reports with Neil explaining what we could/should do next has been reassuring, supportive and helpful. We look to move our business forward every quarter and Neil has been there to ask good and awkward questions.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes the business has improved results 9 years out 10 and expect it to continue growing for years to come.

Needed someone to produce statutory accounts and Neil came via recommendation.

Produced the year end statutory accounts and advised on taxation issues.

Occasionally can be slow to respond but this problem has now been put right.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

Started my new business in 1998 and needed an accountant to provide monthly management information and advice without it using any of my team or my teams time.

How has Neil King helped you?

Neil and his team have consistently provided quarterly management accounts within a week of our period end. Most recently we reviewed our annual accounts just 10 days after our June year end.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Fast accurate management information with no fuss or hassle every quarter without fail - for 9 years in the bounce. The guidance and advice from meeting Neil every 3 months has helped propel our business forward and resulted in 9 years of revenue and profit growth.

What could they have done better?

We experienced a little confusion over our tax affairs last year but Neil and Andy sorted it out for us. We didn't even have to communicate with the tax office.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

We had been struggling to build a good relationship with our previous accountant and felt as the business was expanding we needed better business support from an accountant.

How has Neil King helped you?

Neil arranged to meet with us at our business premises, to see the business first hand, and ask questions on the operation. The most important thing that Neil offered was not just accountancy but more a business mentor. He was very down to earth and approachable.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We have not been with Neil for long and due to our work restraints we have not been able to spend as much time with Neil as we would like. However we do feel that Neil is so much more approachable than our last accountant and he's excellent at responding when I need him.

What could they have done better?

On the whole we have no complaints. The only constructive suggestion would be communication between the departments could be better on occasions, however this is something we raised with Neil at our last meeting.

I'm not good with figures.

He took the pressure off me enabling me to concentrate my efforts on the things I do well.

Maybe not but it has not been the fault of Cedar & Co.

What could they have done better?

Maybe they could have kept more regular check ups with me. A three monthly "How are you doing" call may have been useful but I could be being unfair because they are always at the end of the phone if I have any problems.

I felt that needed an experienced team of accountants who could add value to my business.

It's getting there, we are becoming more efficient as a business and in doing so becoming increasingly profitable.

We are currently trialing some new software recommended to us by Neil, once this is up and running it would be beneficial to discuss our progress on a monthly basis focuses around our annual objectives.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

First registration of the Ltd company and therefore the services of an accountant were required.

How has Neil King helped you?

From the first time I sat down with Neil I had a genuine belief that he would be able to add real value to my business. We have a quarterly meeting to strategically review progress and set goals for the business, it's important to have the objective view and opinion from someone outside the business. Neil specifically has helped me secure a significant order for the business with his advice during the final negotiations.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes and more. Aside from our meetings etc Neil is always at the end of the phone for a chat or to offer advice, a vital requirement for a business such as mine where I am the only employee and decision maker.

What could they have done better?

I was introduced to the Xero accounting package via the accountants and feel the initial training could have been a little more extensive having had no previous experience of accounting packages or bookkeeping etc. however they organised a training seminar which was useful.
