As business owners we thought it would be important to set up our own pension plans but needed someone to walk us through the process.

How has Daniel Britton helped you?

Dan has helped us with pensions, but also so much more. He helped us get wills arranged, set up an investment/savings plan, obtain life insurances and just generally give us the peace of mind that our financial future is not being left to chance.

100%. Although we have not reached retirement yet so are not drawing down from any funds the path we are on is clear and secure and that is all we could ask for at this time.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was leaving employment at age 59 and had a number of pension plans. After doing the basic sums myself, I needed a financial adviser to facilitate the transfers due to the amounts involved.

How has Daniel Britton helped you?

Dan was happy to look at my projections, agreed with my conclusions re taking final salary pensions or the transfer values and arranged the details. Since I was intending to do a lot of travelling, I needed someone to make sure that my funds did not plummet whilst I was not looking.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. We have been through a turbulent time with Covid-19. The fund did fall, understandably, but had fully recovered by Jan 2022. I have been taking an income from the fund but the performance has made up for this income. Obviously, with the invasion of Ukraine, there will be more turbulence ahaead. I trust that Dan and the team at Blue Finance will do whatever they can to help me weather this storm too. I understand that investments can go down as well as up.

Nothing obviously wrong with the service so far.

I had built up a number of pensions and investments over the years and I was reaching an age where I needed to make sense of my options in the approach to retirement.

How has Daniel Britton helped you?

Although I had made contact initially to make sense of the products I held and the options available to me, the initial discussions were not about products and money. Dan made me realise that the important aspects involved looking at my planning objectives, what I wanted to achieve and the lifestyle I wanted to live. Dan was very empathetic in understanding my objectives and it really made me think about what I want to achieve in life. He got to know me as a person and he confirmed that only after knowing the answers to these key questions about me, that he would have the right to then start talking my money and how it can help my achieve these objectives. I found this approach very refreshing. Over the course of a number of meetings, Dan gathered in depth details of the cost of my current and future lifestyle, as well as any other assets I held and showed me whether the cost of the life I wanted to live was achievable. He went through a number of planning scenarios with me to show the impact on any decisions I made and it made me feel at ease with any decisions I needed to make by showing me the impact. He also showed me the importance of reviewing this plan regularly to ensure it remained on track.

I came away from the whole process enlightened and feeling in complete control of my finances, with the confidence that the life I wanted to live was affordable. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We recently started our own company and initially were looking for support on setting up independent pensions.

How has Daniel Britton helped you?

Dan decided to take a more holistic approach to what we needed to understand our entire financial position, our long term goals and ambitions, and then was able to recommend both pension, and investment strategies that would help us reach the desired end state. He did a thorough investigation of our position then created a plan full of recommendations which we then decided to implement. He recommended life insurance products for us, helped transfer existing pensions, recommended new pension schemes, and investment platforms, set us up with online platforms to monitor our investments.

We've only just started with Dan, but so far are extremely please (only time will tell the final results).
