I had received a lump sum following a property sale. I had my own ideas about what to do with it but wanted a professional second opinion. I also wanted to know how it would affect my ability to retire before 60.

Chris contacted me when I looking for someone to assist with this and was really helpful and explained everything thoroughly from the outset. The process of transferring the pension out went smoothly and was largely dealt with by Chris.

Unfortunately the market is are little volatile at the moment but due to the in depth financial planning when meeting with Chris we have made long term plans and expect things will pick up and I am not too concerned at this point.

What could they have done better?

A slight issue found with the level of risk of the plan my pension was transferred into not being what was expected was soon rectified after contacting Chris. However, clarification of exactly which plan my pension was being invested into and its level of risk explained during the meeting to go through final details and signing of the paperwork would have been better than finding it was not as expected when receiving the emailed documents.

I had a free introductory call with Chris. I had called to discuss pension transfers, which we did do and Chris was very helpful in clarifying things for me. However, of the 3 Financial Advisors I have spoken to so far, he is the only one that recommended putting together a financial plan to understand what my aspirations for retirement were, how they matched up with the likely reality, and what I could do to improve things. I was in a position to take volntary redundancy and being over 55 years old Chris gave me the confidence to plan for early retirement and transfer my pension with confidence and faith.

How has Chris White helped you?

Chris White was very good at explaining with different graphs and examples of planning for my future in early retirement with confidence that my pension would be invested sensibly and outlining different scenarios so that I would be comfortable with my decision to invest in a drawdown pension, Chris also took time to understand my needs and lifestyle plans.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was not convinced my existing IFA was providing a truly personal service, and found their advice rather generic. My brother had worked with Chris to manage his retirement planning, and spoke highly of the manner in which Chris helped him, in particular the clarity and simplicity in which he explained things.

How has Chris White helped you?

After meeting Chris and reviewing my present situation and wishes for retirement, he worked with me to move my pension pot into a more diverse group of funds, with an eye on costs and returns, and while staying within the original scheme for simplicity.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It is early days and COVID is keeping things pretty dynamic. However i am confident of a positive outcome when i need to benefit most from my pension. The lack of real numbers, over the month or so since Chris assisted me, is the only reason i did not score him 5 stars all round.

I wanted to consider by options for retirement, to ensure that I was able to my family.

How has Chris White helped you?

Chris was very diligent in explaining the various options that were open to me. I wanted to transfer from my company pension scheme, to one that would enable me to have more flexibility in drawing the funds, but also ensure my children would receive the benefit should anything happen to me or my wife.

A fund arrangement has been set up, ready for when I decide to retire.

Personal finances are always a protective area and we wanted to use someone that we had complete confidence in when talking about delicate matters.
