John took a full assessment of my financial situation & stability, found out what I had, what I understood and what I required. I was kept fully advised & informed throughout. Despite my 'old' provider being intransigent & unhelpful, John was able to deliver a first class result without undue delay.

I'd received some inheritance and wasn't sure on the best route of investment. I also had some stocks and shares intially set up by my parents that I wasn't confident in addressing to see if they were performing well or were aligned to my current risk appetite.

John has helped both myself and my partner better assess our finances to plan for the future. He analysed our current stocks and shares to explain their current risk levels (which were higher than I would have liked) and made recommendations on a new investment portfolio which was much broader than the previous one. He also advised on where to invest the inheritance money given some of our future goals. More importantly, John explained everything in Layman's terms, enabling us to get a better handle on our finances, which I know will be invaluable for us becoming more independent in this area in future. John provided a very detailed report and frequent updates, maintaining complete transparency throughout.

The main outcomes for us were to increase our knowledge of stocks and shares and general investing, to set our finances at a more reasonable level of risk and to feel confident that our money will safely grow to help us achieve what we want it in life. It's still early days yet but I have absolute confidence that John's recommendations have put us on the right track, especially as my mother is also a client of John's and has seen great returns from her investments since being in his care.

Honestly, John is a pleasure to deal with and has answered every question we've had in great detail - even financial questions aside from the areas we initially required help with. Personally I think I would have to start nit-picking to find fault with anything John did, or failed to do, during the course of our business with him! We had read a lot about Equity Release and thought it was a sensible thing to do but we wanted to talk to someone person to person and confirm our thoughts.

How has John Crichton helped you?

We were directed to John Crichton through a third party found on the internet. He was not at all pushy, we took our time and decided to meet with him. The meeting confirmed our own thoughts but John was very careful to point out possible disadvantages as well as the advantages and he made us feel confident that it was the right decision for us.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It took a little longer than we initially thought. This was not a problem for us but it might be important for others. The slightly longer delay was because John wanted to re-apply on our behalf because he had heard that we might be able to get more advantageous interest rates. He managed to secure those lower rates for us and we were very happy with the outcome of the whole transaction, fees were exactly as we had been told and it was all relatively easy.

What could they have done better?

I really can't think of anything John could have done better. Very satisfied.
