What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I'm at a stage in life where I realised I wasn't at all prepared for the possible eventualities and certainties of life. I hadn't though abut my various pensions, where they are, if I was contributing enough, let alone my salary and possible investments and savings I could be making. Its time to make sure that my finances are in order to live well now and ensure I have planned for my future.

How has James Hawksworth helped you?

I was recommended James services and so far have been very happy. He gave me advice on my current finances and has helped me work out the beginnings of how best to place my money for the future. No overselling as with other advisors I have spoken with. James has a reassuring manner and approach which means you feel comfortable and are confident from the start that he understands and has your back. He doesn't need to sell how good he is, you know as soon as you begin talking to him. He comes back to you with possible solutions and lets you make the ultimate decision, but he ensures you have all the facts to be in a position to choose what's best for you.

Time will tell as my decisions are both long and short term, but so far I'm happy with the direction I'm taking.

James was very diligent in his initial preparation (the free consultation) and with the follow-up discussions; I had particular ethical requirements for my portfolio. He explained the types of pensions investment options available to me and we discussed their ramifications. More importantly he found a solution that suited my needs for the future.

His advice was clear and well explained outlining where he thought the investments would be best placed and giving me a clear understanding of the fees involved. James undertook all of the paperwork for the transfer of funds and has set-up a portfolio that should provide me with a basic income with the ability to drawdown lump sums if required.

I needed to understand my options for saving into a pension, including establishing exactly what my work scheme provided and then considering what other options might be available (including a personal pension plan).

How has James Hawksworth helped you?

James listened to everything I had to say, quickly understood where the gaps in my knowledge were and explained the bits I needed to know about. He also suggested a number of options which I hadn't previously properly considered or been aware of. He also gave me plenty of scope to make the decisions for myself, with all of the available information, rather than restricting my choice by heavily pushing one option which may have been more convenient/profitable for him.

I have obtained two outcomes from meeting with James. In the short-term I have answered the questions I had about retirement planning and have put solutions in place which I feel exactly meet my requirements. I have just left school and started in the workplace and James has helped my parents before and they were really happy with him. I wanted to start a pension as early as possible and also look at a savings plan.

He also explained everything in simple and plain language and really seemed to have my best interests at heart. James, was very friendly and reassuring. His response to my original request for help was very prompt. The explanations he provided were in non technical jargon which helped me understand completely the options available to me. The service provided was very professional and efficient and things that were promised to me were delivered. I can't express how easy things were made for me. We wanted to buy a house but had no deposit and our current house was in my wife's name. e.

James helped us round this issue and got us a great deal couldn't have done it with out him.

After my husband was made redundant, we needed some advice regarding planning for the future and how best to invest his redundancy money.

How has James Hawksworth helped you?

James helped us to review our pension and benefits to see whether we needed any further income protection or insurance. He also advised us on some medium to long term investments.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We have set up the investments as advised but it is too early to say how successful they are yet.

What could they have done better?

James was very friendly and professional. He made us feel at ease during our meetings and gave plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Good communication by email prior to and after meetings.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We had a baby and needed to have some life insurance to make sure he is safe if my husband or I die.

How has James Hawksworth helped you?

He recommended a kind of policy that is cheap but gives a kind of annual 'income' if one of us dies. But he also strongly encouraged us to sort out our Wills, which we have now done. He told us what else we should be thinking about but due to budget constraints we can't do at the moment - he was not pushy, which was refreshing.

Yes, and when we have the budget we will talk to him about the other aspects he highlighted.

What could they have done better?

Nothing I can really think of.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

A full financial review of our personal circumstances including pensions, savings, investments and mortgages both residential and BTL.

How has James Hawksworth helped you?

James spent time completing a thorough fact find of our circumstances and took time to understand our needs and goals. He then took the information away with him and reported back to us with suggestions and recommendations. I really liked the fact that there was no hard sell and, in fact, he advised us to stick with the products that we already had through much of his recommendations. However, he has subsequently taken over the management of my pension.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I am now more confident that our finances are in good hands and we are on the right track moving forwards. I am delighted with the initial performance of my pension, which has shown great growth already compared to what it was achieving through the previous provider.

What could they have done better?

There is very little that I think James could have done differently or better and I am very happy to recommend and promote his services and have already done so.
