What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I'd been in Financial Services over 4 decades, though the majority was in compliance and managing others. Adrian is my brother-in-law, We often discussed business including how and why he used cashflow modelling. I relied on my own knowledge and decision making for retirement, but was unsure whether my pension savings would be sufficient to retire earlier than 65.

Adrian offered to review my retirement provision. Following a full review of our situation, short, medium and long term needs, he used cashflow modelling to show how I could retire immediately.

I initially used the services of Adrian at HarperLees for advice regarding later life care for my elderly mother. The advice I received in that regard was extremely helpful and I was very happy with the information given in this matter.

I approached Adrian to discuss my Mums care plan options and had numerous questions ranging from understanding my late Fathers will, how probate works, funds in relation to property sale and how trust Law/Taxation works. Adrian provided a very comprehensive service and was very diligent to ensure that all questions were answered. Where I didn't fully understand the first time he was happy to explain again. Overall I found the experience very professional and it gave me confidence on the next steps of the process.

I had a preliminary meeting with Adrian to ascertain if there was any value in becoming a paid client. I was asking about the best way to handle my mothers finances with a view to her staying independent and or moving into care. Adrian and Laura were both excellent. They provided good helpful advice in a friendly and supportive manner. By the end of our meeting Adrian decided there was no point in further paid advice. Although the session was free, at no time did I feel they weren't giving me their full attention. If my mothers situation changes in the future and I feel I need some further advice I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Thank you.

I first made contact with Adrian when I researched the SOLLA (Society of LaterLife Advisers) website in late 2019. His intiial visit was whilst my husband was in the latter stages of Alzheimer's disease in December 2019. He and his colleague gave a free initial, general assesment of how I could progress with planning for future care needs. He was generous, empathetic and clear in the initial planning which my family could address. My husband succumbed to Alzheimer's disease in late November 2020. Adrian's advice is backed up by a wealth of relevant experienceI in later life needs. I have every confidence in approaching Adrian imminently for the best advice available for now further considering a plan for my financial and care needs. My contact with Adrian and Harper Lees has been empathetic, caring and efficient.

I had successfully exited a business enterprise and wanted advice about investing the proceeds. I wanted a financial plan that would secure my family's future and within that my own eventual retirement.

How has Adrian Quick helped you?

Adrian helped me identify the key objectives and prepared a choice of investment houses that, with his ongoing monitoring, might best suit my assets, my attitudes to risk and my long-term goals.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The initial choices, and subsequent appraisals with 'fine-tuning' have proved robust and reassuring. My life plan is regularly reviewed and I am confident and relaxed that my financial future is secure and on-track.

What could they have done better?

Nobody has a fail-safe 'crystal ball', but there is nothing to suggest that the choices we agreed, the decisions taken along the way and the service provided were anything but absolutely correct at the time. Fate might have delivered better returns, but then equally they might have been worse! Results to date have exceeded expectations and I am more than satisfied with that.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Initially we sought Adrians advice regarding helping our son financially with his property purchase. Following on from this we used Adrian in regard to financial and pension planning.

How has Adrian Quick helped you?

Adrian helped with the arrangements for my sons property purchase, partially using existing assets we already had and topped up with a short term mortgage. Then he organised the consolidation of my money purchase pensions into a single SIPP and provided recommendations for the investment managers to manage the SIPP fund. We have a regular annual review of our finances in general and also with the SIPP fund investment managers, which Adrian arranges. We have also used his advice regarding our latest Wills.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, I am very pleased with the advice Adrian has given to me. The annual review is extremely useful and Adrian is always available if I need to discuss anything in between reviews. I find Adrian is very thorough and clear when giving his advice and I find him very easy to work with.

What could they have done better?

I am totally satisfied with the service Adrian and his team has provided and I am unable to think of anything I could suggest that could be done better.

I had retired a couple of years prior to meeting Adrian and whilst I felt we were financially secure wanted confirmation of this and further, some advice on my pension and savings arrangements in addition to some pointers regarding long term planning around inheritance etc.

I wish we had spoken to Adrian 10 years earlier! Adrian and the team developed a long-term financial forecast which confirmed that our finances were, overall, in good shape. He and the team gave us a variety of feedback on the structure of our savings which we have since implemented. Adrian identified some challenges around my various pensions and helped in straightening a few issues out. Adrian also provided helpful advice around certain aspects of our inheritance planning and subsequent to that put us in touch with an excellent will writer to restructure our wills and implement various changes. I intend using the team on a regular basis to undertake a financial review to ensure everything implemented remains on track.

My mother had sadly become I’ll with Alzheimer’s and I was responsible for managing her finances but also ensuring she received the required care in line with her wishes prior to becoming ill

How has Adrian Quick helped you?

I had been advised by solicitors that I didn’t need to obtain health and welfare power of attorney and only required financial power of attorney. Which I initially did. It soon became apparent that this was a huge mistake and had I not sought advice from Adrian my mother would have effectively lost her voice and not received the care she required in line with her wishes.

Yes. Following Adrian’s advice on not only what was required but also how to achieve this we were able to get the required health and welfare power of attorney which meant we could still have a say in the care my mother received in her last year of her life

Adrian oversees a trust fund where I am the lead trustee. We needed a financial advisor to provide us with an overview of how and where to invest money and maintain an overview of the trusts performance for a long time period. Having previously used Harper Lees for some pension advice, our family decided to build the relationship with Adrian and other financial advisors to steer a secure future for the trust over its lifetime.

How has Adrian Quick helped you?

Adrian has been approachable and calmly measured in his dealings with us as trustees. He has listened to our questions, provided scenarios as examples of answers and guided us through the process of managing a trust. This has aided our decision making about where to invest, for what time period and against a level of risk that collectively as trustees we all feel comfortable with. The advice offered is measured and focused - Adrian is good at seeing potential opportunities and pitfalls ahead of us and has educated us about long term investments of this kind needing particular and specific navigation to produce the best outcome for the trust beneficiaries.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. We have worked towards a mutually devised strategy based on sensitive and prudent risk profiling that all the trustees have agreed upon. This strategy has been framed by Adrian's advice, but has been decided upon by the trustees. Adrian's approach is assured, balanced and pragmatic - the facets we were looking for to help manage the trust in the way it was originally envisaged at inception.
