What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

I run a small business and want everything correct and above board in a area I’m not overly knowledgeable and don’t want any expensive slip ups .

How has Robert Lamey helped you?

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

Being a small company everyone there knows who you are when ever you phone and can always help straight away without putting you on hold.

I started as a sole trader on self employed basis with my then employer, I just wanted to right advice from the beginning which I got and them changed into a Limited Company.

Rob always offers sound advice and made the set up of the business and the accounting side very easy and a smooth transition. As the company grows Rob continues to support and flex around our requirements. Sometimes it can be difficult to understand (the accounts side) but Rob finds a way to make it easy - this make me feel at ease and comfortable with the changes as and when required. Rob is very easy to chat to and is pretty much always around if you need to chat.

Yes very much so and its easy to talk to Rob and get some ideas on how to move forward. The service is very efficient and very friendly bunch.

“My Company has been looked after by Elsburys for over 9 years. Rob and his Team manage my payroll, my quarterly VAT return, Management Accounts and obviously Year End Accounts. They have also been involved in one Company buyout and one Shared Purchase. Using their own resources, Lawyers and a Business realigning Company we have had some involved and in depth situations that could have been complicated, but due to the communication skills of Rob and his Team, any issues that might have arisen were foreseen and dealt with early on. This is a privately owned proactive, competent and extremely capable with just the added twist of being competitive too. Elsburys thanks for your support so far, long may it continue.”

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

I would receive 2 late penalties for late filing of returns from HMRC prior to being introduced to Rob. I found him calm and just a 'nice man'. I asked him, "If I use you as my accountant, will you ensure my return are met on time and respond to my emails". He smiled as you obviously would as you'd assume all accountants would (You'd be surprised). Hence I switched to Elsburys.

How has Robert Lamey helped you?

For a start he communicated and did so promptly. Secondly, I had 4 companies which were all a mess with pay roll, tax returns. Rob asked I go and spend half a day with him at his office. Upon arrival, I was given a cup of tea, and had diagrams of my companies drawn on paper and explained how they should be run for them to be 1. Efficient, and 2. Biding to the laws. It was all explained in Layman terms, as was Rob telling me how to book keep as it would be easy for me to do so and save me paying Elsbury's to do it. In short, he tidied up what was a big mess.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, 100%. My personal and company tax returns / affairs were a mess. Had I been investigated I dread to think. Within the last 4 years Rob and Matt and straightened me out and in the process educated me on some aspects of accounting. They have been and are very patient (Even with a bit of a control freak like me) in explaining what they are doing, why and why they suggest I do would they would recommend. Fundamentally I have absolute trust in them as humans which is important to me, however just as important as that, they are experts in their field, hence happy to pay the professionals to get the job done once and correctly.

What could they have done better?

Honestly, nothing. Everyone at Elsbury's have been polite, helpful and excellent on communication. I think I have always got a reply to a queiry within 24 hours. They may not have dealt with them all within 24 hours but always acknowledged my email/message and gave a time frame in which the issue will be dealt with and it always was.
