In 2009 we created our first company to work for ourselves and Malcolm was recommended to us.

Malcolm helped us create the company, advised us to become VAT registered, assisted with all HMRC requirements and compliance and has, for the last 14 years, been our company accountant. He has advised and answered queries for us and when he has not been able to help, has sought professional advisors on our behalf to assist us. As our company grew, Malcolm has steered us through Payroll and pension compliance. As we have grown, our reliance and assistance from Sackmans has grown.

Above and beyond. Malcolm has guided us year on year and brought to our attention areas we could be more productive in - or highlighted areas where we needed to be more vigilant. It is more than just a straight accounting service; he has become a part of our company.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an accountant?

I receive income from commercial property and by using an accountant I ensure that the correct amount of tax is paid. I also make large donations to charities and need to ensure that the gift aid paid by the government is covered by the income tax I pay. It was also necessary for an accountant to liaise with the Executors of my Mum`s estate which was relatively complex.

How has Malcolm Sackman helped you?

By ensuring that my tax return is completed correctly so ensuring that I pay the right amount of tax, do not fall foul of HMRC and support the state services which I enjoy the use of. He also needed to liaise with the Executors of both my parents estates which was done correctly.

Yes - HMRC are clearly satisfied with my tax returns and my Mum`s estate is nearly wound up.

Dear Sam. Thanks for your feedback. I did reply to your enquiry the next day. But having checked again today, unfortunately one of the characters in the email address was incorrect and so you would not have received it. Like most others, we don't offer support to other firms of Accountants, for a number of reasons- only end users. Some of the large firms do offer this assistance plus there are boutiques like Tax Action, Tax Advice Network and others that may be better suited to your requirements. I hope that helps.

Our business started in 1977 and our Bank Manager recommended Newman, Sackman & Co, they were a first class Company and worked with us to help our business grow. Nothing was too much trouble when we needed help and advice with taxation, VAT and all aspects of tax to enable us to run our business, whilst Newman Sackman took care of the intricacies of the complications of the income tax world, which allowed us to sleep at night ! When Malcolm took over the Company due to the retirement of Mr Sackman snr, nothing changed, Malcolm still ran an excellent, first class business and was always just a phone call away for any assistance we needed. We would recommend his company to anybody looking for help and assistance with all business affairs

We had severe difficulties with our previous accountant. I was skeptical and concerned before we engaged Malcolm and his team. They had promised to turnaround payroll and monthly accounts within a week and respond promptly to emails. I am pleased, or even delighted to report that payroll is always done within 24 hours and monthly accounts within or ahead of the timescale. Emails and calls are replied to on the same day. Malcolm also helped to develop a spreadsheet which makes it easier and efficient to record our transactions and he also trained my staff on how to use it.

We were previously with one of the large national accountancy firms who charged a high level of fees for an unsatisfactory level of service . Malcolm's practice is just down the road which is very convenient.I'm particularly pleased with the level of service . Just having one point of contact makes life easy .Everything is attended to quickly and efficiently . No more last minute panics and uncertainty on tax bills.We've already signed off the accounts with months to spare which gives me peace of mind . I had set up a small business and was looking for a reliable and sympathetic accountant who could guide me through the financial responsibilities that we would face.

Malcolm was very helpful, looking after all our accounts and reporting to HMRC on our behalf. When we had a VAT inspection Malcolm took all the worry off our hands and managed the whole thing, which was a great relief.

What could they have done better?

My only criticism if of myself, we could have used Malcolm's knowledge and expertise to greater advantage. He did offer it on numerous occasions, but we didn't always appreciate the benefit of having a reliable and experienced accountant at our disposal.
