I have no interest in Finance, nor sufficient knowledge to be confident that I am making the best decisions for me and my family. AAB were already doing my tax so I sought advice. Ian has been a godsend. He is interested, knowledgable, approachable and available. AAB now do my own tax, my company accounting and tax, and my wealth management. They also do this for a former colleague based upon the work that Ian has done. Good man Ian, good man.

I was retiring at the beginning of 2021 and I needed help to resolve my view of a Pension Transfer option. I had been offered a large Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) multiple on my 30+ years service final salary pension scheme. The Transfer option looked to me to be the obvious choice but I wanted an independent qualified view to check my reasoning and if correct support the mechanics of the Transfer process, including a recommendation of a suitable investment SIPP platform. I was also advised to apply for an additional Lifetime Allowance Protection that I did not have and so saved a bunch of tax !
How has Ian Campbell helped you?
We had a great opening discussion where my accumulated knowledge of the world of personal finance was acknowledged and constructively used to frame my options. The choice to Transfer was confirmed as by far my best option and the mechanics of this were fully covered by Ian and his team. My risk tolerance was assessed and taken into account in the Transfer choice and the selection of an appropriate SIPP platform, which actually was not as risky as I would have perhaps chosen, as it was quite rightly pointed out to me that given the sum more risk was not sensible.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
The outcome has been remarkable. I have been helped through a very tricky extraction of the pension equivalent value and now have full access to my fund through an online login. I have been tracking the fund and its performance has so far, only over a couple of months, has exceeded my expectations.
What could they have done better?
I do not have anything to put here that Ian would have control over. Generally a simpler transfer process would be nice but I fully understand its very heavily regulated and many i's and t's need to be covered.

Having little interest in financial matters I was looking for someone to advise me on the best options for savings and investments and how to make best use of my various pension pots. I have had good service from AAB in the past and asked Simon Glazier to support me. Simon was fully committed and introduced me to Ian, a recommendation I am very pleased with. My initial question was "when can I retire and still get £4,000 a month after tax?" with a secondary question "what is the best way to simplify my wealth management?".
How has Ian Campbell helped you?
Ian reconciled and made sense of all my bits of cash and savings and pensions etc. his immediate advice to Q1 was "now, if you want". He then went on to advise to me that my Defined Benefits pension was best left where it is as this will provide a stable income and little improvement can be identified taking it out of the company scheme. However all my various DC pensions and savings accounts and ISAs could be combined into a tax efficient wrapper and managed appropriately. Ian and his team are also helping to realise the value from my stock holdings.

It was a bad start as the recent crash had a bad impact, however this has now recovered and is doing well. We are making progress on the stock holdings.
