When my wife died, I wanted to ensure that the major part of my retirement savings, (which I had invested in her name because she did not pay income tax) were invested in a safe and financially rewarding organisation. I also wanted advice on how these could best be invested to benefit from Inheritance Tax Allowance..

She selected a company which she felt would achieve these objectives and advised me to select two of their portfolios as one of them would maximise the Inheritance Tax Allowance
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Having regard to the current financial situation the two portfolios are not doing as well as expected but I cannot blame Kate for this national problem.

They could have achieved their annual growth percentage forecast by the investment company.

On the pension side, yes, I am pleased with the advice given. On the investment side, I am not sure at the moment. I have yet to see a return on my investments after more than one year.

Kate seems to be a little disorganised at times, though it is usually only minor. Some of the documentation provided seems unnecessarily complex and difficult to understand.

She has continued to meet me and produce an annual report to ensure that I have good knowledge of the current progress of these investments. Kate, advised from the begging that this is not something to do lightly and needs lots of information to make and understand any outcome. The gathering of the information at first seemed overwhelming, but she broke this down into manageable junks both for myself and wife’s income/pensions. Kate also had the backing of the group she works for including specialists within this area. Also through this process we have updated our Wills which we are very happy with.

Absolutely, The transition from Company to private pension was simple even though it had to be done in two sequences. Of course through this passed year any financial change brings it’s issues! But Kate has kept us informed all the way through with regular updates. Kate has also been available on occasions for our needs which she has for filled 100% to satisfaction.

outlooking our retirement we were concerned with poor performance of cash (low interest rates) savings and how we should prepare for our next phase.

Kate was good at listening and understanding situations from our perspective while providing effective financial focus on key points. Her explanations were clear and she dealt with questions effectively. The investment funds recommended to us and the flexible retirement account were designed to address our needs at this point in our lives.

The FRA and investment funds have delivered as intended. They were selected with due consideration to the level of risk applicable at this stage of our lives and this has provided better financial stability compared to the situation we were in.
What could they have done better?
We have wanted to transfer funds into this new one but have not yet overcome 'technicalities' in Kate's absence.

Sadly my wife died and I had put most of my savings in various investments in her name as she was a non tax payer. I thought it sensible to obtain professional advice on reinvesting these , particularly to minimise future inheritance tax for my son who will receive my estate.

She constructed an investment strategy to meet my particular requirements.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Not yet. My investments into her recommended low risk managed investment fund commenced in January of this year just as the stock market started falling after years of rising. I am hopeful that the present losses will soon improve but I shall be reviewing the situation with Kate when we have our next meeting in the summer.
What could they have done better?
Possibly to have advised investing some of the money into a cash investment having regard to Brexit and uncertatainties in the stock market. (But perhaps this is said with 'hindsight'!)
