What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was concerned that my financial advice was not as seamless as I would have liked since my original contact retired and the new advisor did know me very well. I knew Kate from her earlier role as a Personal Account Manager in our local Bank and was very comfortable in all dealings with her.

How has Kate Davis helped you?

In the 4 years that Kate has been our financial advisor I have been very pleased that she understands our requirements / risk profile and that our investments are in excellent hands.

Even during these turbulent / almost unprecedented times I have confidence that our finances are in safe hands and the best results are being achieved.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

When my wife died, I wanted to ensure that the major part of my retirement savings, (which I had invested in her name because she did not pay income tax) were invested in a safe and financially rewarding organisation. I also wanted advice on how these could best be invested to benefit from Inheritance Tax Allowance..

She selected a company which she felt would achieve these objectives and advised me to select two of their portfolios as one of them would maximise the Inheritance Tax Allowance

Having regard to the current financial situation the two portfolios are not doing as well as expected but I cannot blame Kate for this national problem.

They could have achieved their annual growth percentage forecast by the investment company.

In general yes but Canada Life portfolio customer interface has taken a long time to introduce and it is difficult to get info on the performance.

Made me aware that interface was not in place and there may be significant delays. Still not in place but I am led to believe imminent.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was about to retire and needed some advice about how to draw my pension and also some advice on investing some funds from a recent property sale

How has Kate Davis helped you?

She has given me a clear insight into how I should take my pension and helped me with investment advice

On the pension side, yes, I am pleased with the advice given. On the investment side, I am not sure at the moment. I have yet to see a return on my investments after more than one year.

What could they have done better?

Kate seems to be a little disorganised at times, though it is usually only minor. Some of the documentation provided seems unnecessarily complex and difficult to understand.

Following the death of my wife I wished to transfer all my savings, which I had invested in her name because she didn't pay tax, and I wanted advice regarding the most appropriate way to reinvest these and which would maximise the inheritance tax exempt allowance for the benefit of my son.

How has Kate Davis helped you?

She was able to provide all the advivice required to achieve thes objectives and to arrange for all my investments to be reinvested.

Despite the present economic challenges caused by the virus the investments have not fluctuated as much as I expected and I remain reasonably confident that they will provide the level of returns that were predicted.

What could they have done better?

I don't think she could have done much better. She was very careful in considering and understanding my financial situation and objectives and in selecting a financial strategy that would be appropriate to meet these. She has continued to meet me and produce an annual report to ensure that I have good knowledge of the current progress of these investments. I now regard her as a friend as well as my financial adviser.
