What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was originally investing in a pension scheme operated through my employer and as I neared retirement was seeking advice on what financial position I would need to achieve to allow me a comfortable retirement. Gary provided such financial advice for several years via my companies pension scheme as I neared retirement. I continued to take Gary's advice after retirement

Yes, I have a retirement income and a savings portfolio which provide me and my family with a very comfortable retirement.

Adverse world events would mean that the outcome has not been what was hoped for initially but that is no reflection on Gary or his advice. The outcome has been as good as could be expected in the circumstances.

To summarise he provided clear, informed, expert advice which helped us through the pension, retirement and investment maze, and he did this in an easy to understand and extremely patient way. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I knew Gary in a work capacity as a HRD and we used his services when he was employed many years ago. I found his pragmatic, down to earth advice and guidance invaluable and we got a lot of uncanvassed positive feedback from employees, which is always a good measure. Gary until recently (when the company was acquired) still retain that account as well after I left, via my successor which also demonstrates the good service provision. When Gary moved to being an independent IFA, I brought him into the Company I had moved onto and subsequently moved my private pension and the IFA I needed to Gary.

How has Gary King helped you?

In a range of areas which I have ticked above but specifically pensions and consolidating my pensions but I find him invaluable on sharing commercially what is happening in the markets (connects to the job I do as well) as well as on the coaching and mentoring for financial planning, given the changing personal circumstances I have been through in the last few years. I have now known Gary for over 10 years now and have recommended him to both other HRD's for company support as well as individuals and would have no hesitation in continuing to do so. Gary is very well connected from a networking perspective and can also be a great conduit for other services eg. will writing, etc.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Most definiitely. My personal pension, based on the investments recommended by Gary have out performed that with my previous IFA who gave less advice. Recently, I moved to less risk based on Gary's advice and thus far, all is looking good given its about being in it for the long-time versus making judgements over a few months.

In all honesty, nothing and this is why I have given such high ratings for Gary's services. From both a personal financial perspective and in my job role as HRD, I have uncounted numerous IFA's and none have been to the standard of Gary.

I wanted to retire early with a target of retiring at the age of 63.

Gary has provided pension advice for several years via my employer Suez. During this time he has provided guidance on investments as well as assisting with tax issues. Since retiring I have continued to seek advice from Gary as I find him very professional, providing very clear guidance

Yes, my investments have allowed me to enjoy my retirement and provide me with the level of income I had been hoping and planning for.

I really can't identify any areas where he could have done better. He always responds quickly to any queries and is always available to provide advice if I need it

He helped with the investing of my pension fund and explained the benefits and pitfalls of the options available to me. Pension rules and regulations were explained to me and are regularly updated . He advises me on how changes in my personal circumstances impact on my fund and the various investment vehicles involved.

Outcomes have been regularly reviewed especially as a result of the 2008 financial crisis and again as a result of the Covid19 pandemic . In both cases the advice received has eventually achieved the expected outcome .

Advice and service is always good; but using a percentage of savings as a remuneration mechanism for the advisor means the same advice becomes increasingly expensive every year, regardless of whether this is down to the advice or not, e.g., getting an inheritance. It would be much easier if advisors simply tendered for their services at the start of the year - provision of services could then be much more easily compared

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I first came across Gary when my workplace appointed him as their financial adviser in relation to the workplace pension scheme. I've been very impressed with his thoroughness and service provided.

How has Gary King helped you?

As well as setting up my work pension at a risk level I was happy with, I also gave Gary details of three other pensions I had been in over the years. He looked at all these and advised me to leave one of them with the current provider and consolidate the other two into my work pension. I think this shows that he has the clients best interests at heart. I have also used Gary for setting up a stocks and shares ISA when I decided the rates on cash ISA's were too low.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I'm still quite a few years off retirement yet, but hopefully I will be happy with the outcome of my pension investments. As it currently stands, I'm very happy with the performance. The S&S ISA is far outperforming the interest I would get on a cash ISA, and I'm looking at that as a minimum 10 year investment, but again, I'm very happy with the performance since I started it in May 2020.

We engaged Gary as a pensions adviser when I was MD of a company and I have also engaged him as a personal adviser.

How has Gary King helped you?

In both roles, for he company and personally, Gary has continually provided high quality advice and guidance in all respects. He is particularly good at engaging people of all levels of knowledge and providing advice in an easily understandable and concise manner. Gary provided general pensions advice for the company and individual advice for employees as appropriate.

Yes in all respects.

What could they have done better?

Gary is always responsive when required but does not "over advise". In this respect, in my experience, he matches his offer to the specific need of the individual's needs. From the company perspective the engagement of employees on pension matters was a constant battle and maybe something that could have have been more effective at times. The advice he provided personally has always been balanced and focussed on personal needs.

Gary had been advising us for a number of years and when my husband suddenly died he helped me with probate and transfer of pension into my name. This was always performed in a professional manner but with care and understanding at a very vulnerable time for me.

Gary King was the appointed Pension advisor when I was in a company scheme and carried out annual reviews. When I left the company I needed ongoing advice how to continue investing in my Personal Pension. I had been pleased with my previous advice and thought it better to stay with somebody I new and trusted.

Advice on how to build up my Private Pension put and subsequently to consolidate two separate pension funds into a single entity with the aim of taking a drawdown income in a tax efficient way.

I had a deferred final salary scheme that would pay out at age 65 plus my company pension scheme. I have no intention of working past age 60 and so I wanted to understand if / how I could make that happen

He spent considerable time explaining the options and risks. He made a real effort to understand my ambition and was happy to run as many scenario's as I needed. It looks as though I will be able to achieve my target thanks to Gary.

Difficult to answer. Gary genuinely spends the time to ensure that I understand what my options are and providers solid advice to achieve my investment goal, given my attitude to risk.
