What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a pension from my employed days and have just been sporadically contributing to it since being self-employed 5 years ago. I have a retirement age goal but didn't know what that looked like financially to achieve it. I embarked on some financial coaching and that person recommended contacting an Independent Financial Advisor. I asked a local networking group who the members recommend and Caroline was suggested. I'm so pleased she was. Caroline has been extremely supportive and knowledgeable from the start. She has taken her time to understand my needs, wants and situation. We have created financial goals to work towards to help me achieve my retirement goal.

Caroline initially offered an 'exploration call' to assess what I needed and determine whether she could help. This was a free call. Everything was transparent from the start. Caroline explained her service offering and the cost of this (which was taken out of my pension pot - either in a one off sum or over the course of a couple of years). No brainer! Asking Caroline for help will accrue me more money in the future. The money I am investing in now will grow at the risk I'm happy to invest in. If I had stayed with the 'employed pension provider' it wouldn't have the same outcome - it was actually a terrible scheme! I now understand pensions in much more detail, Caroline allowed me to ask ALL THE QUESTIONS! Talking pensions felt like a different language! Caroline explained how pension companies invest their money and have a calculation of what I put away and the outcome when I get to pension age and what I should do with any spare cash.
