The reason I contacted Tom, is I am of an age where I will be thinking about semi retirement in a couple of years, and I didn't have a clue what to do about my pension, Then I had a meeting with Tom and he listened to what I wanted from my pension in the future, and has now put a plan in place which I am happy with. I would certainly recommend Tom for anyone wanting assistance with financial advise.

I would have liked to have seen everything through to completion with Tom and had him benefit from his work, but, because he was honest enough to tell me the truth he didn't actually get any business from me, This would however differ if I am going to need his services again and I will and would recommend him to everyone

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I decided to look into a financial advisor to help me put some cash savings to better use. Initially I came into the process thinking that property could be the right move, and Tom was happy to talk through and the benefits and roadblocks with that kind of plan.

How has Tom Kesterton helped you?

Tom has put together a multi-year plan for me that helps toward my longer term life goals, and is good on to the tax side of things too. He also put me in touch with a great accountant who's been able to speed things along. Tom is generally super quick to reply to emails and is always happy to jump on a call about a particular issue. I'd previously tried to work with a large firm based in Bank, and it was like walking through mud to even get an email reply. Not only that, but his background and focus seems to be moving towards venture and EIS schemes, which pairs up well with my background in technology (I understand he has a few clients now with a similar background). So all in all, working with Tom has been a world of difference.

It's still fairly early in the process - we've only been working together for less than a year. But I definitely feel like I'm getting answers to a lot of questions already. I will update or post another review down the line when the outcomes are clearer.

What could they have done better?

A few of my investments have hard cutoff times, which has meant getting a lot of paperwork in quick succession. This has both been from funds, as well as Quilter/his own office. In an ideal world, this would have been a bit more gradual as it was quite overwhelming at the time. But I feel like Tom was supportive throughout, just had to ask a few questions.

I've never taken investment seriously but with a young family I felt the time was right - that and I had a number of different pensions, which I wanted to consolidate.

Tom walked through all the options both in terms of pensions as well as other investment options for both myself and my partner, explaining the pros and cons at all stages.

Yes, we've consolidated two of the three pensions, keeping the third on it's own as it is still actively being paid into. Alongside that we have set up an investment portfolio to track, small monthly contribution initially.

What could they have done better?

Nothing major but perhaps pushed me more to respond to emails - I'm quite slow at deciding where finances are concerned and often took a while to reply to Tom, which meant we were slower at setting things up. Love that Tom doesn't put pressure on but perhaps following up with clients who have yet to respond would be a helpful nudge.
