My wife and I had pensions we felt were underperforming and we were looking for advice as we did not need to start drawing our pension for a number years

The service provided was consistently excellent. I do not think the process could have been better managed.

Simon is my replacement adviser for Close Brothers

I have only met Simon once as he is my new relationship manager. Although I cannot as yet say too much regarding the value etc I did find him to be very personable and I believe he will serve me well

Please provide a brief comment about your experience with Simon

Simon came highly recommended by a mutual friend and has given me some excellent advice about investing. I’ve previously worked in financial services, however stocks and shares weren’t my area of expertise, so Simon gave me some pointers and made me feel at ease. I’ve got a few pensions dotted around that need sorting out so I’ll be coming back to him shortly for that. An incredibly nice chap who asks the right questions, listens and gives advice that’s easy to follow.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Following my divorce several years ago, I needed good financial advice. I was recommended a company who have since been taken over by CBAM, therefore I was an existing client.

How has Simon Stygall helped you?

In my annual review, summarising my investments, explaining market forces, enabling me to make an informed choice on level of risk. Simon has also advised on my options regarding retirement planning. Simon has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, he is very knowledgeable and is resourceful. He goes the extra mile to check facts to inform client decision making.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, in a timely switch to conservative risk for my investments informed by retirement plan discussions.

What could they have done better?

Nothing at this point in time

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Windfall legacy needed a better home than the bank and we already had a portfolio with Close Bros.

In addition to topping up our existing portfolios very efficiently he identified an additional pension source for us both

Too soon to tell and performance now masked by Covid 19 impact

I'm afraid I have little interest in financial affairs and therefore rely on individuals who,know a great deal more about finance than I am ever likely to.

He advised us about the current state of our portfolio and on the implications of property ownership with regard to future needs for social care.

Nothing at present and he could not have foreseen the effect of Covid-19.

We have funds invested via Close Bros for many years and know that we will have an annual review of their fund management and can contact them at any time for further advice.

We have not known Simon Stygall for long because he has only fairly recently become our Close Bros fund manager, but our first impressions have been very favourable. We discussed widely our financial position but as agreed with Simon felt that we need not make any changes at present.

Don't know - we were perfectly satisfied.

I have had a portfolio managed by Close Brothers for a number of years. Simon joined the Close Brothers team and as a result became my adviser for the Close portfolio.

We have had one face to face introductory meeting where Simon did a detailed review of our financial position and he gave relevant advice. Since that first meeting Simon has been in touch by phone several times reporting on follow up actions.
