What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I retired from the Police Service and my then financial advisor was himself retiring. He recommended Aspire. Originally I was seen by Steve Pine who then passed on my portfolio to Ken Hall.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I am a cautious person when it comes to financial matters and Ken ran through all the options available to me. He understood my reasons on investment and planning for the future and advised accordingly. I have been more than satisfied with my returns and the planning for the future. In these strange financial times, Ken's expert advice and knowledge has secured an excellent outcome.

Wanted to invest cash left from an inheritance to get the best long term, tax efficient, returns possible to provide for a comfortable worry-free retirement.

Ken has provided first class financial planning and investment advice to my elderly parents for more than a decade. In the last 2 years, on the death of my father, Ken’s dealings with my elderly mother during a very upsetting and unsettling time, has been exemplary. His empathy and patience has been extraordinary. Ken has always been willing to go ‘above and beyond’ in terms of making sure my elderly mother is entirely happy with her investments.

The advice and investments that Ken has provided for both my Mum, and vicariously for me, has produced very good results. Notwithstanding the returns on the investments, the peace of mind that he has provided my Mum, while intangible, has been equally as important.

What could they have done better?

Of course, one could always ask for higher returns but that would require an ability to predict the market with 100% accuracy and parents willing to take greater risk with their investments! I can not fault Ken in any of my dealings with him.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

As my husband is younger than me, I planned to continue working after I reached retirement age, and then retire at the same time as him. I hoped to clear my mortgage in that time, so we could retire with the house paid for. I also wanted advice about my pension arrangements, before and after retirement.

How has Ken Hall helped you?

Ken set me a challenge and suggested that, when I started to get my State Pension, while still working, I should put it towards the mortgage each month, and not spend it on any other purchases. It was very tempting at first, but I was determined to prove I could do it and managed to stick to the rules. After retirement, he assisted with the transfer of my company pension (not a final salary scheme) to a better provider and gives regular drawdown and tax advice and oversees our life assurance.

Yes, the mortgage was cleared prior to my retirement date, which was a huge relief. Even Ken was surprised I'd actually stuck to his advice!

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was made redundant at about the time I was looking to retire. My wife and I needed advise re my redundancy, pensions and future plans. Also, we needed to bring Father in Law home from abroad. We were looking at how to buy a small flat.

How has Ken Hall helped you?

Ken's expertise in financial planning, especially in taxation meant he could show me and my wife several ways to invest my redundancy, merge my pensions and purchase the flat whilst maximising our investments and forecast income needs for several years to come. He also identified how we could avoid paying too much income tax which arose with the redundancy.

Everything that my wife and I hoped for has been realised. Ken keeps us up to date with any changes that may, or will affect our lifestyle, and not only at our review meetings.
