What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was starting to plan for my retirement. Although I had a good NHS workplace pension plan, I was aware that there was more I could do beforehand to ensure a retirement that was not only comfortable but provided me with a financial buffer against unexpected outgoings.

Looking at my income and outgoings, Adrian identified a savings plan which I initially thought was beyond my means, but which turned out to be very manageable. He not only identified a monthly amount that I could comfortably save, but guided me towards the saving and investment options which yielded best returns.this meant that I could take early retirement without any financial anxieties. In the intervening years he has given advice, and managed my investments, in a way which has produced results far in excess of anything I would have imagined.

Even more than what I was hoping for.

What could they have done better?

I don’t think there is anything that could have been done better. I am not a financial expert, but Adrian has always communicated clearly and without jargon, so that I was able to make informed decisions in an area that was not my area of expertise.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Following a marital break up I had to rethink my financial position for the rest of my life, I was in my mid forties at the time. Previously my earnings and my husband’s earnings ( he was a high earner) were amicably shared. The separation which had come as a shock to me was a time of heightened emotion and insecurity so I needed someone I could trust to help me navigate all things financial.

A friend who had been in a similar position to me recommended Adrian following her very positive ongoing advice from Adrian. From the very start when I first met Adrian I felt I was in safe hands. Advice was given in a way in which I could mainly understand, no questions on my part were considered too trivial. Adrian understood very quickly my position and was very confident in his ability to help me secure a strong financial footing. I have been able to contact Adrian at any point during his time as my financial advisor, that has been important to me.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I have now enjoyed more than 25 years of Adrian’s financial advice and management. I am very clear that without Adrian’s guidance and management of my finances I would not be enjoying my retirement and the financial security that I have. A recent example was an emergency repair to the roof of my home. The bill was £27,000, to me I still think of that as a staggering amount of money but I was able to afford the repair without losing any sleep over it and without it having any effect on my day to day standard of living. That level of security means a lot to me and I am more grateful than I can find words for that Adrian has advised and made investments on my behalf. I know I would not have been able to make any of the decisions I have made without Adrian’s advice and management.. There are few people and decisions that are truly life changing but the involvement of Adrian as my financial advisor has been life changing. A decision made many years ago has given me more financial security than I could have imagined, my modest background did not prepare for the possibility that such a difference could be available by making the decision to work with a financial advisor.

I am confident that Adrian has worked to the best of his ability on my behalf throughout all the ups and downs that global finances experience.
