Myself and My Partner needed advice on what sort of policies would be beneficial to financially protect our family and enable us to plan effectively for a comfortable retirement.

How has Toby Evans helped you?

Toby's was able to advise on which policies would be best suited to our family and was able to explain all of the benefits of the products in a way that we could understand. He kept the paperwork side for us to a minimum and is always more than happy to take time to clarify any questions we may have. He offered his advice and allowed us to make informed decisions on what was best for us within our budget.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Initially I need an advisor to help me invest proceeds of an endowment. Later pension advice and consolidation proved extremely valuable. And now I'm retired and taking drawdown maximising my investments is essential.

How has Toby Evans helped you?

Toby provided a grounded, realistic and data driven analysis of my current financial position and potential future prospects. He is innovative without being cavalier, which gives me confidence my assets are not going to stagnate, nor am I exposed to unacceptable risk. The way commissions are structured eliminates any potential for conflict of interest when it comes to moving investments (a rare thing amongst advisors in my past experience). Trust is a huge factor when it comes to managing my lifetime accrued assets, and I find great comfort having Toby as my advisor. To be able to retire comfortably in my early 50s is in a great part due to the sound advice I've received. I can't thank Toby enough!

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

With so much financial turmoil over the recent years I feel the outcomes are probably better than I have right to expect. Being retired earlier than plan in one's fifties in a sound financial position is a blessing. I would not be in such a fantastic position without regular high quality financial advice.

What could they have done better?

My investments grow, admin and paperwork are efficient, my questions are answered fully and quickly, communications are good, we meet face to face when appropriate... I struggle to find suggestions for improvement. Perhaps the only opportunity would be to find a crystal ball to predict the next market disruption, but that's snake oil and Toby believes in data so I won't hold my breath.

We didn’t feel confident we had adequate cover for every potential situation that could arrive whilst raising a family.

It wasn’t always clear what I needed to sign, maybe the odd email didn’t get through? That could have been my end though. I also thought the review request came a little too soon but perhaps it was to catch people who didn’t go on to use the services.

I met with Toby for a meeting to discuss inheritance planning. I was asked to provide background information prior to the meeting which Toby had clearly reviewed. I first met Toby 2 years ago as had received a small inheritance and wanted to ensure that I used it wisely for my future.

How has Toby Evans helped you?

I have protection policies in place to provide for my family in case anything happens to me. He saved me far more in tax than I had imagined possible and structured the investments to maximise all of my and my wife’s allowances. I’m so pleased we were introduced to him by a friend.

I decided to get financial advice after receiving an unexpected lump sum payment from my late friend. I found Toby Evans’ profile on Vouchedfor. I wanted an Independent Financial Adviser. He contacted me promptly by phone initially giving me some good advice. We arranged the free initial consultation. He was polite, friendly and professional. He took time to explain how finance markets can change for different reasons and it was helpful to see visual charts and data examples. I felt it was important to consider areas such as my personal spending, pensions and types of investments available. I wanted a professional to point out areas to be aware especially tax rules! We discussed about my personal background and current circumstances a lot of areas were addressed at the meeting. Toby suggested a financial plan to consider going forward for me to think about. He emailed me a summary of our meeting the next day and I found this very useful. There was no pressure from Toby and his follow up email had given me enough time to consider his advice. I had actually started to sort certain areas and was therefore happy to proceed. I would certainly recommend Toby if asked.

We had some money to invest and wanted to maximise the return we could get. Toby provided cogent proposals for making use of the funds through Greenfields/Quilter investments. His arguments ad advice were sound and gave us condicence that the monies were in safe hands.

Not quite, but we have been through a great deal of turmoil, globally, with Ukraine and the cost of living crisis etc. So, out hope was for a more positive result, but we recognise that Toby's management of the account (with his colleagues, naturally) has mitigated the potential losses to a great extent and maximised profits where possible.

Who knows? I am satisfied that the advisor has performed well.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I wanted to consolidate my existing pensions of which I had three, and also ensure that I was making the right investment decisions regarding those pensions

Toby provide me with a very clear understanding and the appropriate rationale for the changes suggested and why these would be right for me personally.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It’s early days just now, but I truly believe that although I will see higher costs, in searching out the right IFA, who understands my personal goals and what I am looking to achieve, I have put myself in the best position to maximise the performance of my pension portfolio.

What could they have done better?

It would have been great if I could have gotten the advice for free, but in reality, paying for good advice makes complete sense. Providing the cost of the advice is more than made up by the increased returns, there can really be no complaint.

We were initially looking for advice regarding my Mother In Law's care costs. This developed into a wider conversation about our finances and it became apparent that there were many more and better options than we'd considered.

How has Toby Evans helped you?

Toby has helped us set up pensions and long-term investment plans, and helped us get our heads around existing pensions. He has listened to our circumstances and requirements and given well thought-through options which suit our timescales, income and financial plans. Toby is always willing to chat through questions on an ad hoc basis.

Toby drew my attention to a Capital Gains Tax issue which I wasn't aware of. Knowing this saved me several thousand pounds - which is definitely an outcome I appreciated! Investments have been made for the long-term, so it is currently too early to say.
