What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I retired quite abruptly in January and had multiple pension policies that needed sorting out: although I have some financial knowledge, I was somewhat baffled by the wide range of options available.

At our initial consultation at our home, Graeme listened as my wife and I described our circumstances and our future aims. He then explained a number of options available to us, taking into account our attitude to risk. After a second, more detailed, meeting, Graeme spent considerable time obtaining full details of my pensions from various pension companies. Then he very helpfully recommended a couple of options that would suit us regarding the consolidation of pensions. We agreed on the route that suits us best (a mixture of tax-free cash, annuity and drawdown) and signed a lot of paperwork.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We have not yet seen any income from the annuity, but I have full confidence that everything is in place.

What could they have done better?

I can't think of anything. Graeme has always made us feed valued and he never seems to be in a hurry to get to his next appointment. He always gives us opportunities to ask questions.

The need to plan funding long term care for an elderly relative for whom I have power of attorney and to invest their money wisely.

Graeme clearly explained the annuity to me and explained the positives and negatives. He obtained a quote about the likely cost and answered my questions. When I decided not to proceed with a long term care annuity he talked me through possible savings options and then researched products available and sent me the details to follow up. Yes, I have clarity about how I'm going to proceed and I have a number of savings options to pursue.

Graeme had just returned from holiday (which maybe VouchedFor should have known) and had a very busy schedule, but he was able to attend an initial meeting with us at short notice.
