I had a pension that was not increasing in value. An adviser had been given my name and kept calling me and finally gave up as I wasn't answering. Paul Huggins was passed my information and he rang and I finally gave him some time. He appeared to be honest, there was no pressure and he explained what he could do in simple language. As a result I signed up with Paul

I have been taking advise from Paul and his father before him for a very long time. When we lived in Kent, we used to see Paul approx. every 6 months. Since we moved to the North East of England, Lanchester near Durham, we have only had a face to face only once. My wife and I are in our eighties and I prefer not to have contact with Paul via Zoom on what has been happening to our investments over the year. I have some important points to discuss with Paul before year end, and he is hopefully going to visit us at home in December. The only advise I have requested from Paul since the last review by Zoom, was on investing in my current account on a one year deal following the increase in interest rates.

I have complex investments and don't have the time or knowledge to manage them myself!
How has Paul Huggins helped you?
Paul explained the changes to the pension rules over the last few years to me very clearly; he has set up an online portal for me to view my total holdings and created projections for me when it became clear I was going to lose my job, demonstrating what I would need to earn in future to maintain my preferred lifestyle and income. He helped me when my wife died a few years ago with managing the financial fallout of that, and also acted as a conduit for pension balance transfers for old schemes I am a member of.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Yes, I have a good understanding of my financial position, and am working with pension transfer specialists to ensure I have sufficient funds should I be unable to find paid work again
What could they have done better?
I honestly can't think of anything. Paul has always taken my calls, and offered highly professional and very clear advice in a timely way.

My Financial Advisor, at the time, decided to move away from financial services, for personal reasons, and introduced me to Paul, who he said had similar investment strategies and ethos to his own, and who was happy to look after my ongoing financial planning and advice requirements. It has so far proved to be the best advice he could have given me, following his withdrawal from the industry.

His financial and investment advice, in what has been, by any measure, exceptionally difficult times, with unstable financial markets and conditions, world wide, has helped ensure that my investments were protected from the worst of the turmoil, are recovering better than market average, and are now in a very good position to benefit from any, (hoped for), upturn in the markets!
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
So far, yes.
What could they have done better?
In the first years of our relationship, I felt that there was not enough direct contact between us, however, there are now regular, (monthly), updates and annual reviews, so that is no longer a problem. I have no other issues at this time.

Paul advises me on all my financial needs across the complete spectrum.

I wanted to increase the value of my Stocks and shares ISA by trading them quickly when I took the view they had peaked, then hold the cash and repurchase when I believed the stock was at a price worth buying back at a profit. Paul set up on my platform, both sale and purchase instruction that I could simply click on at the exact moment I wanted to do the trade. I increased the value of the stock by £3000 over a few days.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Very much so, I was able to proceed because Paul was very proactive in setting up my request very quickly and efficiently and informing me the second it was set up. Paul is very customer focused and can really help if you are clear and open with him on why and what you are trying to achieve.

My previous FA left the UK for opportunities overseas and I needed a new Qualified adviser to manage my pension portfolio that is on the Transact platform. The relationship is good and as expected.
What could they have done better?
A proactive approach could be improved as things with regard to your personal investments change and you are not always aware of new regulations or investment opportunities as they occur. It would be nice to receive out of the blue a call or e mail with any suggestions that might be worth consideration as a demonstration of trying to increase your wealth and also justification of the annual FA fee rather than just receiving the annual review statement from them that is computer driven and purely factual in the hope of convincing you of their commitment and continued value for money.

I came into some money and needed advice as to what to do with it.

He helped me invest some funds as well as pooling together my pensions from various previous employments and ISAs.

Yes, it is much easier to keep track of my finances.
What could they have done better?
My adviser was informative and helpful. He took care of all the paperwork for transfers etc. It was seamless from my point of view and so no, he couldn't have done anything better.
