What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My wife and I needed to take the next step and plan for the future, as well as protect our assets via Life Insurance, which is a very difficult topic to comprehend and discuss, Penguin and in particular Gavin was absolutely fantastic.

How has Gavin Baos helped you?

Penguin and Gavin, firstly started by listening, which is a very important a skill, which is very often under utilised. Gavin listened to all our Questions, Queries and Concerns, then went through each one, point by point, to explain and give reason to what was being done, why and the outcome. Gavin also gave some advice on what to do, and wasn't just chasing 'money' - my wife and I were also querying setting up a will, but Gavin stated, as it is just us two, and our estate is under £250,000 in value, there wasn't a need to yet, when the time comes we will be using Penguin and Gavin for definitely.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Not only have we seen the outcome we were hoping for, but we have seen better results than we would imagine. Always there at the end of the phone and the experience Gavin brings is second to none. Even about issues that do not directly influence the services Penguin provide, Gavin is always available for an impartial view.

What could they have done better?

Penguin and Gavin, really couldn't have done anything more. Completely painless and effective, nothing was too much, a real credit to the Industry.

Gavin Took his time with me over several meeting to ensure I had what I needed for me and my family, I didn't feel pressured to take anything, he made me feel comfortable while explaining clearly all the benefits/risks of investing, and also mine and my partners health care plan and despite me not taking any pension option, Gavin explained the pension I am on will be enough for me to retire on.

Ive always struggled with my finances and never really understood pensions, savings and investments. I met Gavin at his office and i was immediately welcomed and made to feel at ease. I was looking to start saving and to open a pension, Gavin sat me down and went through all my finances and we decided what i could afford to save and live realistically at the moment but with the added extra that at any time my financial situation should change i could come back to Gavin and he would alter all my packages. Gavin took the time to explain everything so i would understand what was happening with my money. Also Gavin informed me that as i am Self employed and keen on sports i should think about life insurance and income protection, two things i hadn't given much thought. Once again Gavin helped me find the best packages to suit all my individual needs and to suit my income. I can now rest assured that i have some savings, a pension, life and income protection. I receive quarterly emails updateing me on my investments. I have already referred Gavin to my friends and family

Gavin is very approachable and makes things easy to understand. It's important to have confidence in someone who will steer you in the right direction according to your ethics and financial status, in a way that you feel comfortable with, and Gavin does just that. He takes the time to explain everything and to make me aware of the pitfalls in every situation and has never pressured me into signing up to anything I don't fully understand.

When I found myself in a situation where I had to decide whether I could afford to take early retirement or not I needed to urgently review my financial affairs. It was at that point that I was introduced to Gavin. He is very relaxed and personable but at the same time is thoroughly professional. At our first meeting he made sure that he was fully aware of all my financial needs and expectations before researching the options he thought best for me. Gavin carried out a cash-flow analysis which enabled me to see and better understand my finances at the time and he was able to prove to me from the analysis that I was in a better situation than I had thought and that with the right financial products on board, I could indeed afford to retire. He offered me clear, sound advice in a way that I could easily understand.
