Mark spent 45 minutes talking through the options, and clarifying what was and wasn't a viable approach. He also sent us some useful background material. In the end we decided not to take any further action, but this was a conscious decision based on a full understanding of the options, rather than simple inertia!

As a family we wanted advice on how best to manage our finances and plan a financially secure future for all of us. Then having received some capital from inheritances we needed advice on how to invest it safely and wisely.

How has Mark Bird helped you?

Mark first gave excellent advice for good investments and future planning to my husband and myself. After the loss of my husband I felt very concerned about how best to manage my financial affairs, lacking confidence and knowledge in this area. Mark was extremely supportive and kind, helping me understand different aspects of investing and thinking about my financial future. He has consistently provided sound and active management of my investments, offering extra advice and input when required. He is generous with his time and has been amazing in lifting the burden and worry of coping on my own with my finances. I have felt secure as a result and am very grateful to have such an excellent and trustworthy adviser. He has also arranged financial advice and support for my daughter, which has been very welcome and reassuring.

Yes - I've been very happy with the overall quality of the investments made and management of my finances in general.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We were introduced to Mark when the adviser linked to our Insurance Company retired. We had reached the stage where our mortgage was paid off and our two sons financially independent and we wanted savings and investment advice.

How has Mark Bird helped you?

During the 20+ years we have known Mark, he has helped us with retirement planning, investments and more recently inheritance tax advice. We are more than happy with the advice we have received over the years and know that we can trust Mark to always work in our best interests.

Thanks to Mark's advice we have seen the steady growth of our investments and are also grateful to him for guiding us in age appropriate actions such as registration of our Powers of Attorney and inheritance tax planning.

We can't think of anything that Mark could have done better. He takes care to explain the reasons for his advice and ensures we have a thorough understanding before we take any action. He is always courteous and approachable and ever mindful of our circumstances and approach to risk.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Having successfully built my own business, taken on staff and achieved growing profitability year on year, I realised that I needed help with managing our accumulating wealth.

I remember Mark’s comment in one of our early meetings which was ‘you’re looking after your employees very well however, you’ve reached a point where you also need to look after your own and your family’s personal finances’. Mark has now been advising us for nearly 25 years and has helped us to successfully navigate the transition from building wealth within our company to secure our personal financial future beyond our working lives. Mark explains matters clearly and simply in language that can be easily understood, helping to build trust and confidence.

We’ve been retired for a few years now and with Mark’s ongoing support and reassurance, he has helped to generate exceptional returns whilst protecting our acquired wealth from income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax along the way. We’re now considering how we can also help to secure the financial futures of our children and grandchildren.
