I was seeking advice about transfer out of a defined benefit pension scheme, and general financial and pension planning

After a very long and rigorous (and at times frustrating) process, I was able to determine that my personal circumstances supported moving out of a defined benefit scheme and Neil was able to support the process through to completion

Yes

What could they have done better?

Charged slightly less! However, to some degree you get what you pay for and the personal service was excellent - made more difficult during the Covid pandemic

I knew of Neil before he became an I F A so it was an obvious decision when Neil set up his own company that I would join him.

How has Neil Smith helped you?

Neil has guided me through transferring my pension when it was practical to do so. He has helped me by putting money into trust for my daughter and granddaughter and helped me with all decisions regarding finance. He knows what risk we are prepared to take and advises us accordingly.

The outcome from Neil handling our finances has been very favourable and hopefully will carry on in the same way.

To be honest I don't think that there is anything Neil could have done better he his extremely professional in everything that he does.

6 years before retirement I had a number of small pensions that I was not sure how to manage. This made me worry about my income after retirement.

Neil looked at my pensions and advised which ones to keep. He then consolidated the remaining into a higher profit fund. He also advised on my ISAs. Neil did this in a professional and friendly manner, explaining everything.

I am more than happy with the outcome. I have had no worries regarding my pension now. I have a higher income than I would have had.

The company our solicitor interduce us to never gave reviews or statements so we moved to the company that Neil worked for.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

As I moved through my career with different employers, it seemed to me that the disparate pension arrangements needed to be examined. I needed good advice on the best way to proceed. I met Neil initially through his insurance work and I was always impressed with how thorough he is.

How has Neil Smith helped you?

We discussed which pensions were advantageous to leave where they were and which would be best consolidated into a new Self Invested Personal Pension, to which I could flexibly add contributions, or transfer a Company Pension, should I move again through my career.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The very balanced and truly independent way that Neil recommended we proceed with Pension Investments produced reduced management costs and consistently good returns. This has resulted in a substantial fund in my SIPP, which I was able to flexibly access at 55.

I really have no suggestions of improvement to offer, the service has been flawless.

Staff changes at our previous advisors led us to look for change. Neil was recommended by another satisfied customer so we went with him.

My husband, a solicitor, died when I was 43 years old with a 6 year old child. My husband had taken care of all our finances and basically, I did not have a clue about such a serious matter.
