We were looking for a review of our overall financial position with a focus on our retirement planning and financing a major house extension.
How has Brad Ainsworth helped you?
Brad completed a full and in depth analysis of our life insurance, retirement and investment arrangements. He provided a compressive written report of our current circumstances and how our priorities for an early retirement and investment planning could be met. He has helped us take control of our retirement planning, facilitating a pension transfers which have meant we can ease into retirement earlier than planned and with the advantage of being able to leave our pension asset residues in our will - which Brad also helped us to arrange. Brad also helped us structure the means to finance a major home extension - which has recently been completed!

Brad had been my go to advisor for financial affairs seen we first meet at a charity event. He has given me advise on a number of financial issues and has, over the longer term proven to be right in every instance in ensuring my money has worked hard and given me the return on investment I have been looking for, whether that was pensions advice or lump sum short term investing.

Our investment strategy is longer term and whilst there have been dips in the market recently Brads advice has consistently outstripped that of the other investment pots I hold or held.
What could they have done better?
Very little, Brad provides a light touch and gives me time to consider my options I tend to be cautious and he respects that and has only once asked me with some urgency to move money which I agreed to as I could see the market response was imminent and if we didn’t move quickly the opportunity would be lost.

Some of the reality of the intricacies and consequences during the SIPs process were not clearly set-out. There was also a temporary lapse in communication due to illness. These unsettled us during a critical time part of the SIPs process though it was quickly rectified on his return.

From my perspective the service came with my SJP ISA. However, Brad was the only one, in many years of the investment, who actually took proactive steps to help. Top fellow.

No particular circumstances, other than the usual situation of wanting ongoing professional advice on finances. For my wife, a change of employment meant a change in circumstances, hence going to Brad with something more specific.

He took time to fully understand our requirements, our aspirations, our preferred level of risk for investments, and explained everything clearly. He arranged a new pension scheme for me which was more tax-efficient and a transfer of pension from previous employment for my wife which was more suited to our requirements.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Yes, the level of growth in our pensions has been good, with revisions made after consultation with us to ensure it remains optimised. Our confidence in Brad and Cathedral Wealth Management has meant we've been more than happy to recommend them to a number of friends, most of whom are now Brad's clients. There has been no incentive for us to do this from Brad, other than that we wanted friends to benefit from an excellent service.
What could they have done better?

I really have no issues. we have regular updates, and when things go wrong in the markets, Brad does what he can to minimise the impact and keeps me informed.
