What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Having had a financial adviser for many years, Edward Chandler took over advising on my financial affairs when the previous adviser retired.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I have been with Edward Chandler since 1984! My wife and I were looking to purchase a new property, from our existing one, and Ed “cold canvassed “ us one day! It just so happened that we needed some financial advice, and the rest is history!

Since the time that we first met, 38+ years ago, I have considered Ed as friend, such has been the advice and help that he, and his other colleagues have given us. We cannot speak too highly of him, and his associates.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely! We are now long retired, and enjoying the Autumn of our lives, made financially pleasurable by taking Ed’s advice!

What could they have done better?

We honestly cannot fault IFS in any way. We have also used other people, by Ed’s recommendation updating our respective wills and placing our property in trust. We would not have done this without the advice of Ed.

I have several small pensions that are of low value and I was looking to see how best to improve my overall income when I retire.

How has Edward Chandler helped you?

Advised which pensions to keep as they are and which to cash in so I could invest the lump sum and income elsewhere. Also helped me sort out beneficiaries etc.

Yes, I now have a healthy pension pot and get regular weekly news feed via email.

Nothing, just wished I lived closer to their base

An initial need for guidance and direction in our financial planning and budgetary organisation.

In addition to earlier advice, with respect to insurance and mortgage finance, Ed has provided us with advice about investments and retirement income matters for us in later years. Ed takes great care to ensure that we understand the points he is making, during our annual review, keeping us up to date with all aspects of our finances

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Since utilising Ed's firm we have felt more relaxed and comfortable with the overall state of our finances. He always ensures we are aware of the options available and the implications attached to them; aiding us to achieve, what we feel are, excellent returns in accordance with our chosen levels of risk.

What could they have done better?

Nothing that comes to mind. Even the coffee and biscuit treats are of a very high standard. Ed always makes us feel comfortable and relaxed. After each meeting we can come away feeling ever more confident that things financially are going well.

He has truly provided us with the best service. We have now dealt with Ed for more than 25 years and he has provided a first class service in all areas. Down to earth, friendly, local and trustworthy. We have regular reviews, which is exceptionally helpful, face to face, currently via zoom, and he provides tax efficient advice in all areas of our investment and pension planning.

Initial investments, years ago, were not as good as expected but not particularly of anyone's fault at the time. More recent years, yes, I would say the outcome so far is at least as good as I expected.

Some of the early fixed term investments did not perform as well as expected by either party. Perhaps more focused reviews of products that are not delivering as expected would have been useful at the time. In more recent years, as perhaps I have become more interested in outcomes, reviews have been thorough and very useful.

Edward provided me with honest and clear information and advice, he provided me with written information, and gave me time to consider what I wanted to do with my cash I was looking to invest. All of this was carried out meeting with me at convenient dates and times. He was and still is always on hand to answer my queries. He was and still is clear in both his written and verbal communications with me, not using financial jargon but putting all the information in plain and clear and easy to understand format. Further interaction with Edward has been at a great pace for me, not hurried or rushed but everything done to suit me and my requirements. Edward treats me, as a client, with the utmost respect, professional yet friendly. I would highly recommend Edward on to others who are looking for such financial services.

Yes. I have annual reviews with Edward and in between these receive regular emailed updates as well as telephone contact. I know that if I have any questions Edward is at the end of his telephone if I want an immediate response, or out of hours the convenience of emailing him and knowing I will get a response from him as soon as he is available. It was also great that my investments were set up in a way that I can view them any day or time, via an online portal which I can securely log in to to see my investments.

What could they have done better?

Edward has offered the "one stop shop" service for me, and so i am unsure what he could have done, or do, better.
