We received an Inheritance which was to be used for our retirement but was sitting in a low yield savings account. We needed advice on the best way to utilise the money to give us a retirement income. This included general investment advice and how to place the money to take advantage of any yearly entitlements we would be due. We had never invested money before so needed to know that we were in good hands.

Andy was extremely professional throughout the whole process. He went to great lengths to explain all possibilities available to us, he listened to our wants and needs and gave us all the information needed to allow us to make an informed choice. He was always available to answer any questions and talk through anything that we were unsure about. He took the stress out of having to place this money in the most efficient way and organized everything for us. At all times we were kept up to date with easy to understand but comprehensive reports allowing us to have the best outcome for our situation. We also wanted to have someone who would continue to look after our interests once the original investments had been made.

Andy is a very good Financial Advisor with excellent knowledge of investment markets and financial products. Prior to coming up with a plan and a strategy to make my money work harder for me, he spent a great deal of time and effort to better understand my circumstances, priorities and risk appetite. He then came up with an investment strategy that suited my lifestyle and future ambitions.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

If you, like me, have not spent a lot of time managing your finances, it can be daunting to understand complicated financial definitions, specialist terms and make sense of the competing options. But Andy masks investment complexities and wraps the hard to understand stuff in an accessible language. I particularly liked his use of metaphor to explain complicated financial theories. I carried out extensive online research and followed recognised bodies, e.g Financial Services Authority best practice in my search to find a good Financial Advisor. Andy ticked all the boxes. Andy is not only a brilliant Financial Advisor but a good guy who wants to help. His advice helped me to have an informed discussion with my employer about my pension rights. His fees didn’t cover this advice. He also helped me in validating provider income protection payment calculations; another intervention that his fees did not cover. Another aspect that I liked about Andy’s service is his wide network of professional contacts who cover areas that he doesn’t. For example I wanted advice on how to draw up a Long Lasting Power of Attorney. This is not his area of work but he quickly suggested good professionals who can help. This is crucial, I think, as often financial planning can’t be achieved in isolation.

What could they have done better?

Thanks to Andy, I now have all of my financial products (pension, ISA, General investment) organised in one place and invested in the right markets. I believe Andy's fees are competitive. I am happy to vouch for Andy and answer any questions that you may have on this review.

Andy came highly recommended by a friend and excelled in every areas as my financial. I know I have received very thorough comprehensive information because when I consider my pension portfolio now, I know exactly what’s happening to it, I have a firm grasp on the areas of investment for the smaller unit that will be invested at a higher rate for a certain period of time. When I look through the documents everything makes sense. This is due to Andy spending a good deal of his time going thru my portfolio detail by detail. He did not talk over my head with impressive facts and figures that financial adviser were notorious for. He took time to make sure I had a full grasp of everything we discussed, and for that very reason, I look forward to recommending him to friends too.
