She asks loads of questions, listens, goes off and researches; and comes back with a strategic plan, taking account of our values, ethics and objectives. And when life does not go to plan, as it does for us sometimes, Maxine is just a phone call away, for her to ask us her inevitable sound objective questions, helping us (coaching us) to make wiser financial decisions.

For many years I did my own research and investing but decided that I wanted to hand over my finances to someone that I could trust.

How has Maxine Clarke helped you?

Maxine set up isa’s for my wife and myself. She helped us with inheritance planning by setting up a family trust for us. Maxine was invaluable when it came to pension planning and organising our income from investments when we both retired. Plus she supplied valuable advice to my wife regarding turning her AVC’s into a drawdown pension.

Well apart from the corona virus effect on the markets all has gone very well.

What could they have done better?

I can’t really think how Maxine could have done better for us, that is probably a measure of how well things are going for us. The only thing that is sometimes irritating is how information is displayed on the online pages. Makes no difference to how our investments perform but if I had to criticise something, that would be it. Not really in Maxine’s control though, just the company she is with.

I needed the expertise of someone to advise on my retirement/financial planning as I had not seen a specialist/advisor for some time. Maxine came highly recommended by a friend.

In was in my early sixties working in a job with a pension attached. I still had membership of 3 pension schemes linked to previous employments I also had a couple of ISAs linked to my bank and I was also in a position to start saving/investing again. With retirement looming in approx. 5 years time I wanted to get my finances in order

How has Maxine Clarke helped you?

Initial interview established my current financial position and what I hoped to achieve in the future. Carefully and fully explained various options available. Included in the analysis was the current cost of my investments and the costs of any future investments. With regards to my pensions it was clearly explained which schemes I would be better staying with and the benefits of transferring the others. I followed Maxine's advice to the letter.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I have been very happy having Maxine as a personal adviser. Extremely satisfied with the Stocks and Shares ISA recommended which more than fulfilled my expectations* Also extremely satisfied with the pension fund set up* but not yet taken * Both have dropped considerably during the coronavirus outbreak. Maxine did contact me to discuss the situation. I see no reason to change anything and still have complete faith in Maxine.

What could they have done better?

I cannot think of anything Maxine could have done better. At all stages she checked my understanding of her advice and the possible options/outcomes. Always returned my calls/messages promptly.

But, come the review meeting they soon appreciated the difference. And walked out very impressed and at ease. They had never had such a detailed appraisal and review of their finances. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Maxine was originally an adviser for my parents. She helped them with inheritance planning, investing money to generate income when my father went into a care home, and with Probate when they died.

How has Maxine Clarke helped you?

She has helped me and my wife with inheritance planning and invested money for us when I retired and sold my business.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We are confident that our finances have been dealt with in the most tax efficient way and know that as result of this, there will be a substantial tax saving to our family when we pass on.

What could they have done better?

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Maxine has helped us for a number of years, beginning with helping my father when he began to have dementia problems.

How has Maxine Clarke helped you?

Maxine advised on the right accounts to help with fathers care fees and planning for future inheritance. She understood our situation, steered us and helped us through some very difficult times. Recently she has helped us through selling our family business giving us advice on Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Our business is now sold and we are comfortable in retirement with the knowledge that our children will be better off thanks to careful planning.

What could they have done better?

I can't think of anything she could have done better.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My husband and I wanted to invest for the future to enable us to take early retirement.

How has Maxine Clarke helped you?

Maxine listened to our needs and understood our attitude to risk. She advised us the best way to achieve our goals within our 'comfort zone'. Over the 20 years we have been with her we have always been happy with the advice and the achievements we have made with our investments.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. We have both been able to take early retirement and have the lifestyle we want without debt. Without Maxines sound financial knowledge of market strategy, taxation and inheritance planning we would not be in the financial position we are in today. She advised us when to move funds, when to invest more and when to 'sit tight ' during volatile markets. She also advised us how to make the best of our company pensions.

What could they have done better?

After 20 years I would find it very difficult to suggest anything to improve on. Maxine always goes 'above and beyond ' for her clients. She is always ready to answer any questions by phone or email and keeps in contact just to let us know everything is going well or to arrange a review if necessary.

I needed to transfer a pension following a divorce.

How has Maxine Clarke helped you?

Maxine was recommended to me by a friend. I was going through the daunting process of sorting out my pension and found it all very confusing and didn't understand it at all. Maxine was patient, and made a very difficult subject easy to understand. She was able to simplify it in order to break down all the complicated components, and make it completely understandable. Maxine clearly knows her subject matter thoroughly, and her knowledge base is second to none. She reviewed all my assess and discussed all the options available to me, in terms I clearly understood and not full of jargon. I asked so many questions, and she always made me feel like they were valid questions, even when looking back, some weren't, but she remained professional at all times. It was more like speaking to a friends than an IFA. What was refreshing, was her excellent communication. She kept me up to date throughout the whole process and never did I have to chase her for any updates. Even after the pension transfer took place, she still made sure she stayed in touch to ensure I was completely happy with everything.
