What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

In the early part of my career ,I tended to work for companies that did not provide a work employment pensions ,As they have not always been mandatory . I therefore took it upon myself to get a private pension and pay a small amount in each month to Scottish Widows just to say i at a least had a pension. When I took it out over 25 to 30 years ago .I was dealing with huge Interest rate fluctuations on my endowment mortgage so i really couldn't afford to pay that much into a pension. Later on in my career I found myself with various other little pensions from previous employers .Which kind of just sat in holding accounts not really doing much. It was quite clear to me that I needed assistance to consolidate my pensions that already existed ,and embark on strategy to make larger regular payments into SIPP that was wholly managed . As I had to get what money was available in my pension to work as hard as possible in the allotted time available prior to maturity .

How has Simon Porter helped you?

To Set up a FULLY managed SIPP with Regular amounts going in each month .I have had a various managed funds through Simon . Who also managed to consolidate up to 3 pension funds in one. I have regular annual reviews in order to check that my pension funds and subsequent gains on target .IE performance gains of the split of my pension fund and what is invested where ? He has also advised on how I can increase my pension holding by adding in Adhoc lump sums from inheritance to max out the Pension whilst I am still working.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

My Pension is a work in progress , although I tend to keep moving the goal post regarding what I expect to get back from it , as I now only have 5 years left before I can look to perhaps retire .Therefore Simon is working closely with me to get the best returns possible in allotted time available. My various pension returns totals will presently provide a minimum of 52 % of my present earnings . Although I challenge Simon to get it higher and so on as we never really know just how much money we can afford to live on to maintain our respective lifestyles as we anticipate retirement . So its important we select the right person to help us achieve our financial goals ,and don't leave it to chance. Simon has been my Financial consultant for over 16 years Now ,and i don't believe I'm an easy client to have .

What could they have done better?

Pensions and general finance returns are all about affordability really. Simon has been good at keeping me level headed .I have always wanted to pay more in ,but not to the detriment of making me short of money in short term .So small increments and a common sense approach is required which Simon Has .
