To invest a lump sum to obtain sufficient growth to give me the income I seek for my retirement.

Arthur discussed a variety of options that would suit my future needs and risk profile and I feel he gave me proper independent advice. I feel I made better decisions from understanding the risks and benefits of property v. investment fund and increasing my pension pot. Despite my relatively modest investment, I am taken seriously. Arthur anticipated many of my questions ahead of my first annual review and so despite my funds performance at the current time, I am confident he is helping me to make good decisions for my future financial security.

My husband retired and had a fairly large pension fund to invest in the late 90’s. Arthur Childs had been previously chosen as local Financial Adviser of the Year so we contacted him, and he advised the Prudential instead of Equitable Life, which proved a safer option, and we have been with him ever since.

How has Arthur Childs helped you?

He has managed our financial affairs since then, recommending a portfolio of investments to minimise risk, a regular income for me that would not be taxed and used ISAs and other investments to minimise our tax bill.

I had an unexpected sum of an additional pension which I needed to invest safely.

How has Arthur Childs helped you?

Arthur carefully explained all the options open to me when I asked for advice. He is exceptionally good at explaining financial matters and investing to an airline pilot who has little interest or understanding of such matters. His sense of humour is helpful too. Arthur always answers any emails very promptly and is available to give additional advice including home visits at very short notice.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The financial situation in the UK over the last couple of years (('21/'23) has been challenging to say the least. Flying Colours have kept be well informed regarding their wide sweep of investments. I'm confident that there will be a marked improvement in the near future.

I have absolute confidence in Arthur Childs and have no need to look elsewhere for financial advice.

We have had a financial adviser for more than 13 years and were not happy with the returns we were getting as we have known Arthur for a very long time we trust him and decided to move to him.

I was coming up to retirement and had several pension pots of various sizes and need advice on what to do with them to give me the best pension income both now and in the future.

Arthur has reviewed all of my Pensions pots, including contacting them for details and then going through them with me. after working out my thoughts on the type of investments I would be happy making and my approach to risk. He then identified which of my pots it would be best to keep as they were and then moved the rest into a new single fund which will give me a monthly income,

The exploratory discussion was extremely helpful, with information on yields and costs between property and an investment portfolio, how to produce a regular income vs capital growth, my risk options and importantly, making use of ISAs which was something I hadn't considered. I inherited from my mother's estate when she died. My goal was (and still is) to keep the money inflation proof for my children, whilst yielding a reasonable income stream in the meantime.

Arthur did all I needed, together with invaluable advice about (eg) inheritance planning, changing the legal way in which my wife and I own our house, paying off our mortgage, and whether or not to take out long term care insurance.

Arthur came to our house. He took time to explain everything with care, not least the advantages of spreading investments across a range of companies. He went through all our papers. He helped consolidate our existing (modest) savings, sitting mainly in bank accounts. He outlined various possibilities - for example did I want high risk, medium risk or low risk investments. Did I want ethical investments. I would never have been able to manage my investments in this way. I did not feel pressured in any way.

The income from annuities are good compared with offers that were received from other companies. The investment of savings are proving to be sound within the risk level that I specified. We first went to Arthur Childs and met Arthur around 1998. We are now in our early 70s.
