What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was moving house for the second time in 2 years, with an existing mortgage that had a 5-year fixed interest-rate period with termination charges for early settlement. I was seeking advice on the purchase of my new flat, the sale of my house and with moving the mortgage without incurring any termination charges.

How has Ian Galston helped you?

Ian was brilliant throughout the entire process, always on hand to give expert advice and to reassure me that we had thought of all angles and there wouldn't be any surprises. Ian was able to agree with my existing mortgage provider that the mortgage could be transferred from my old house to my new flat without triggering the early termination charges, saving me thousands of pounds. Ian was also able to ensure that I secured a good fixed interest price right as interest rates were rising, as he had locked-in an agreed rate the earlier week with the mortgage provider. Again this saved me thousands of pounds over the course of the first five years of my mortgage. Ian was exceptionally helpful, reliable and approachable throughout and I couldn't have been happier with the service, as always.

Ian was able to secure a great outcome and more than what I was expecting or hoping for. We were able to secure a mortgage transfer without triggering early cancellation charges and at a very competitive interest rate at a time of interest rate hikes.

What could they have done better?

There is nothing in Ian's service that I could complain about or hope was done differently.

Ian met to discuss pensions and potential options for future structure and growth. There was no pressure to transfer with some pensions left with previous employer's scheme and others consolidated. Once we agreed on the plan Ian took control to ensure a quick and smooth transfer.

Ian rearranged my pensions to benefit me in the best way possible. I hate finances with a passion and they always worry me. Ian took that away, sorted out my pensions alleviating my concerns in the process and I'm now positively looking forward to 55 when I can start to draw on my pension.

I got more than I had hoped and Ian made a difficult situation for me into a completely relaxed, know where I'm going shouldn't have worried so much in the 1st place. Guys I highly recommend him.

What could they have done better?

Absolutely nothing I received a great service from knowing nothing into being in great hands and I now am looking forward to being 55 and having some time out to do somethings on my bucket list, I would never have managed this without the expert advice, explanations and something I now know is not to be feared. I think so much pressure and emphasis is put on pensions that it turns into a complete minefield. One call to this guys changes that, seriously don't delay and call him with any concerns. I never would have considered Critical Illness until Ian advised otherwise and now due to his advice not only am I seriously covered but managed to get it through my employer which I didn't even know I could have done. Changes have been made to some of my investments but it is too early to say what affect these have had. I have not yet retired so I still have to decide what should be done regarding the lump sum, but options have been discussed with Ian.

What could they have done better?

Perhaps have a few illustrative examples on spreadsheets to show the different financial products available, and how their output is affected by changes in input parameter values. When being spoken to about the options available it is difficult to assimilate all of the information provided, so it would be helpful (for me anyway) to see how the options stack up in numbers
