This has helped me to grow my own awareness and confidence in financial planning. This accessibiity and patience is very important to me, in addition to Simon's knowledge and efficiency.

What could they have done better?

I currently require certain info in hard copy for ease of reading and understanding. As soon as I request this the forms are provided in the post. As I hope this will only be a short term requirement I can't recommend it should be widely available. Again, with help from Simon and his staff my online skills are improving too!

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

A desire to provide a solid financial base for myself and my children maximising my income, assets and pension prospects and providing me with solid expert advice, explanations and financial management in areas in which I have little knowledge and no expertise. I also wanted an ongoing relationship with advice and action that would reflect my own changing personal situation and respond to global events and movements on the international and national markets. I wanted someone in whom I could have complete confidence in to act always in my best interests while keeping me informed and involved as far as possible.

How has Simon Arthur helped you?

Simon Arthur is exemplary always in providing action, advice, assistance and support with all aspects of my financial affairs, while always listening to and taking account of my personal circumstances, changes in my life and my own preferences as regards risk etc. He is always available for advice in between our regular financial reviews for the big or the smallest queries and is patient and thorough in his explanations of anything I do not fully understand. He stays on top of all aspects of my financial affairs and is proactive and careful - I never have to chase or push for action or advice as he has thought of my needs before I have.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

So far - and that is over many years now - absolutely. My investments are very healthy notwithstanding global political financial and social upheavals. I feel secure financially and I can see the way ahead as I begin to contemplate retirement and other personal changes in my life.

What could they have done better?

It is difficult to say - if anything I think I would appreciate a six monthly check-up in addition to our regular annual reviews as my circumstances are changing faster than before. However, this is something that Simon Arthur himself has already proposed before I did. Otherwise I cannot fault him in regard to what I ask of him.

I needed pension advice to maximise my pension in the most tax efficient way, and to rationalise having a number of different pots. I also used him for financial advice when my mother went into a residential home to help with structuring her finances efficiently.

In respect of my pensions, he advised on the structure of my investments ie SIPP, GIA, ISA, cash etc to provide the funding I wanted and the flexibility to deal with downturns in the markets. Simon set up a long term care annuity, as part of the funding for my mother's residential care costs.

I have a better understanding of how to manage my money through fluctuations in the markets through the structuring of my portfolio. Simon restructured my pension arrangements mostly into one SIPP leaving only those arrangements that were beneficial to remain in situ. His advice is always considered and up to date, and he has given me ideas that may be considered in the future. He always takes a personal interest in me and my family, so much so that two of my children are now clients of Metis.

Yes, I have seen performance improvement in my pension portfolio.

When pension transfers are made, there is always a risk of being 'out of the market' and exposed. It is often the platform provider that is slow, but this needs to be closely monitored and chased up.

Simon has helped me to keep my pensions under review and assisted me with transferring my previous pension plans into a SIPP with which I have been very happy.

Very much so. Simon has provided consistently good advice and my SIPP has performed well.

What could they have done better?

He could be a bit more proactive in hounding me to keep on top of my contributions to my SIPP and to pay more attention to my investments/savings. I respond well to being hounded, but I understand that other people might find it offputting. He is probably getting it about right for most normal clients.

I had a sizeable income and portfolio and I wanted to ensure I was investing smartly and tax efficiently.

How has Simon Arthur helped you?

Simon helped to cut out some unnecessary insurance policies I had that saved me money. In addition he then helped me to create and execute a tax efficient investment plan aligned to my risk appetite. Over the past 5 years the investments have done well. Most recently I got made redundant. Simon has been extremely helpful in determining my cashflow profile over the next 30+ years that has reassured me that my finances are healthly enough even if I were to not find another job. As you can imagine this has been extremely reassuring at a time of huge uncertainty and stress.
