What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Dramatic health changes to one of us has resulted in seeking advice and guidance to secure lifestyle changes to income and long term financial planning .

How has Goss Lumsden helped you?

Goss looked at our changing circumstances and identified better investment opportunities and income than what our initial ideas and choices were. After very careful consideration, detailed discussion and further investigation, we chose to compromise our ideas and changed our retirement plans to take a better opportunity and outcome .

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes our financial security, income and long term investment is well catered for and delivers increased income to match our changing lifestyle goals.

What could they have done better?

If there was anything I could identify, it would have been to act earlier - to take advantage of high annuity rates and avoid the hardships we encountered during a long period of extreme financial hardship whilst having to endure the long extended period of cancer treatments. Having said that , - I should have equally involved his guidance much sooner than I did - and regret that I didn’t.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Personal health circumstances drastically changed our income, outgoings, - and affected our future financial wellbeing this year. We decided to seek help and guidance to improve our finances now - and the future and although ideas were sound reasons to seek advice, his personal involvement drastically impacted our independence in the lead up to our statutory government retirement entitlement age.

How has Goss Lumsden helped you?

He helped us explore different investment opportunities and to guide us through opportunities outside a drawdown pension by taking advantage of better investments in current fixed rate annuities. This helped us to improve current and immediate future earnings but limit deterioration of funding from our investments.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It’s early days , but already we have less anxiety and great hopes of being better financially secure, while having to process a serious health and wellbeing situation, hopefully for the short term future.

What could they have done better?

We could have acted in hindsight six months earlier when first informed of a health diagnosis, so perhaps should have better communicated , but hindsight would have been a nice gift to have.

My partner and I are First-Time Buyers. Not knowing where to start with a mortgage, we searched online for a mortgage broker and came across Goss. After researching the firm and reviews, we decided that Goss was the best option for us Vs the other options.

How has Goss Lumsden helped you?

Goss has support us through a very protracted purchase process, which exceeded 12-months and involved plenty of changed circumstances. Each time input was required, Goss was incredibly responsive to our requests. We have now reached mortgage offer stage and will hopefully be exchanging in the next couple of months. As an add-on, Goss recommended and guided us through a life cover application and highlighted the different considerations we needed to be aware of.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Everything within Goss' control has been executed very well. Crucially, we submitted our mortgage offer during a period of increasing interest rates and a very turbulent market. Goss acting quickly ensured we were able to secure a rate which would not have been available to us if it had taken any longer to submit.

We have no mortgage experience to benchmark this against, but nothing stands out as being an improvement requirement.

Following major misadvise from a high street bank, I was left with no mortgage offer after agreeing the purchase of a property. Various unusual circumstances meant getting a mortgage offer wasn't straightforward. Goss liaised with several lenders on my behalf and provided me with regular updates on the progress of applications. Due to the unusual circumstances, Goss was kind enough not to charge me for his help at the point of application as is standard practice, but only when I actually received the offer. I definitely wouldn't have a mortgage offer now without Goss' help and advice. Thank you Goss!

We were looking to remortgage to buy the 50% share from our shared ownership house. We were recommended Prosser and Knowles and stuck gold when we were handed Goss' details.

How has Goss Lumsden helped you?

Goss helped secure us a mortgage. We had struggled in the the past, with being part ownership and having some bad credit. Goss did all he could to help us with our current financial situation. He was very professional, non judgemental and helped us no end. No question was too silly and communication was excellent.

We are First Time Buyers and my parents have always used Prosser Knowles and we were recommended Goss!

How has Goss Lumsden helped you?

Goss has been so patient with me in the search for our 5% mortgage. We came across a few stumbling blocks along the way, but Goss always gave the best advice and in the end, we secured our decision in principle. I am almost certain that if we went direct to a local bank for a decision in principle that they wouldn’t have been anywhere near as helpful and patient as Goss has been with my partner and I.

My wife and I were recommended to Prosser Knowles Associates by a friend. We were planning to retire to Mid Wales and just needed to find additional funding to buy the house of our dreams. The traditional mortgage route was out of the question due to our ages.

How has Goss Lumsden helped you?

Initially, we spoke with one of the firms directors Nick Broughton. He was brilliant in assessing our financial situation and recommending the best course of action. He then introduced Goss Lumsden, their mortgage consultant, who amazingly found us an excellent solution called a lifetime mortgage. We are just delighted! Following on from this they then found us much better pension deals which are actually making us money now!

Both Goss and Nick were both like a breath of fresh air to us. Of course we have had 'financial advisors' in the past, all of which have been keen to achieve their commission targets, But these guys are a totally different breed! Highly professional, kind, totally transparent and one hundred percent on your side. We cannot recommend them highly enough. It fact we are recommending them to our family and friends as they deserve supporting.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had been a customer of Prosser Knowles with a different adviser, when she left I switched to Goss and could not be happier with the service I have received.

How has Goss Lumsden helped you?

Goss reviewed my pensions and advised me on the best way to manage them to prepare for my future retirement. I have been in pensions schemes all my working life and he took on the task of organizing them into a more manageable (and understandable) portfolio. Having sorted that for me, I then asked for some mortgage advice and despite my tricky financial circumstances (DMP, single mum) and several stumbling points along the way, I now have a deal which will clear my mortgage ahead of my original date and free up my monthly cashflow a considerable amount - thanks to him, my daughter and I have a better quality of life without the worry of debt or cashflow.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Most definitely - my monthly cashflow level has increased thanks to the ceaseless perseverance of Goss in finding me a better mortgage deal and I feel confident that I am well prepared for my future and retirement.

Over the years I have been able to build up a sum of money that I have previously held in low interest rate savings accounts. I wanted to see if my money could do more in a different environment.

Goss listened to my ideas and was able to clearly set out my objectives. We agreed to invest some of the money into a stocks and shares ISA in order to utilise my allowance.

Absolutely, my funds are doing well. Goss made the process very easy and explained everything in terms that I would understand. We are in uncertain times and markets have reflected this but Goss has kept in touch and has been very reassuring.

I bought my first house in 2012 and sought the advice of a financial advisor to assist with the mortgage process. Since then, I have bought several rental properties and the team at Prosser Knowles have guided me through every step.

I first met Goss in 2019 when purchasing my home. He found the best mortgage deal for me, explaining my options along the way, and submitted the application on my behalf. Having Goss there to deal with the mortgage lender directly took away a lot of the stress typically associated with buying a house - if only he could have dealt with the solicitors for me too!

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, absolutely. Goss is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to mortgages, including further advances and the requirements or restrictions of different lenders. I am now in the fortunate position of having a home plus three rental properties; whilst each has a mortgage, Goss supports me with every renewal and provides ad hoc advice as and when I need it.
