Our previous financial advisers had been taken over and only now dealt with clients over a high financial threshold. Essentially we had to find a new advisor

I felt very comfortable talking with Adrian about my Pension and feel that he offered good and appropriate advice. I made contact with Adrian as I needed to find another financial advisor to handle my pension. Whilst not a stupid person, financial language is something I have struggled with. I roughly know what I want but not how to get there. I have now had a phone call and a face to face meeting with Adrian. I was not made to feel inadequate and was able to better define what I want. There was no pressure put on me to agree to anything but I left with some things to look into and space and time to think further. I was reassured with the statement "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" - things would not be changed just for the sake of it. This is the start of a working relationship but I feel I will not be pressured and, with repeated clear explanations I hope to be better able to understand the financial market better. Thank you for your patience, Adrian!

Adrian provided very clear advice, having listened to our situation intently. He asked simple, easy to answer questions and quickly got to the root of the issues. I searched for a financial adviser to help with a complex pension transfer from an old and over-complicated defined benefit plan. As I'm only 40, there were only a handful advisers indicated they would consider to help, but most of them only would help if I would move the money over to their preferred plan. Adrian was really helpful and direct from the beginning and offered a really reasonable fee for his work without any restrictions.

How has Adrian Nunn helped you?

Adrian talked through my options and explained the process of such a transfer really clearly. He assessed and understood my reasons of requesting this transfer, my circumstances and my risk tolerance. He was really responsive through all the process, keeping me up-to-date with the progress he made in the background. There were a lot of difficulties with my old pension plan and their responsiveness, but Adrian stood up for my rights and made good pressure on the plans contact people.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The advice was not to transfer my defined benefit pension with the low transfer value offered right now (explained by that I'm really far from pension age), but transfer closer to pension age instead. This proved that my best interest were kept in focus despite it was not the outcome I hoped for. However it still already absolutely worth to go through this process for me as the pension rules and benefits were clarified and clearly described to me at the end of the process and now understand what transfer value would be more acceptable for such a transfer.

What could they have done better?

I contacted Adrian for some free advice to discuss my options associated with transferring an old pension. He provided me with clear and helpful advice on the services he could provide and gave me an overview of some key points I would need to consider beforehand. He was upfront and clear about charges associated with any further advice that I might need, should I choose to go down that route and was generally very helpful and friendly to speak to.

Adrian combined two of the pensions and transferred them to a more suitable plan. He also switched funds on another pension which should give me a better return.

Adrian helped me to understand all the pension options available to me in a clear and knowledgeable way, using graphs and everyday examples to illustrate. He is very patient and took the time to ensure that I fully understood each option and its advantages or disadvantages based on the risk assessment questionnaire I had completed before moving forward. I felt at ease asking lots of questions and I also felt comfortable answering thought provoking questions which helped me reach my own decision regarding the way in which I wanted to utilize my pension pot. After some research I contacted Adrian at Iceni to see if he could help me with my financial planning having lost my sources of income due to Covid. I was apprehensive about contacting an advisor as felt they could be unapproachable not to mention expensive. From the outset Adrian was friendly and put me at my ease. He listened carefully to my financial situation and we agreed to have a socially distanced meeting to discuss further. At the meeting Adrian put me at my ease and was very clear about how he could help me and what he felt was the best financial path for me. The best thing was that he made everything easy to understand which is needed when discussing pensions. I highly recommend Adrian and will continue to use him in the future.

I reached the age of 75 and Aviva would not carry on with the type of policy I had and I would have to cash it in or transfer to another provider

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Although I was a committed sceptic concerning financial advisors, having 3 small pensions savings and, reaching the age of 68, I relented and searched on the web for an advisor I could trust to point me in the right direction as to combining and, taking a pension. Iceni Financial Advisors contacted me and I met with Adrian, along with the owner of the company. After the initial meeting, it seemed to me that Adrian knew his “Stuff” and I agreed to accept his assistance.

How has Adrian Nunn helped you?

Initially, I asked Adrian to find a way of combining my 3 funds into one more financially viable Pension Fund. I would keep working for 2 years then take a pension. However, the Covid 19 hit so changed this to combining the funds and taking a pension now, rather than wait. This he achieved in a truly professional manner, keeping me informed at every step.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Although there are only 2 funds combined at the moment, I can see this is going to be a good move for me as I will be receiving a small pension soon. The largest fund has yet to be incorporated as the existing fund managers are so slow and Adrian has been scrupulous in his approach to the transfer.

What could they have done better?

I’m not sure Adrian could have bettered the advice and, at this time, im quite content all is well.
