Great first meeting

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was conscious of being uninformed at to the status of my various workplace pensions and I also noticed that one of those pension pots was gradually being whittled away by administrative fees with zero gains being applied to compensate. Eventually that pension would have been worth nothing so I needed to do something.

How has Douglas Hanbury helped you?

Douglas has gathered information from me and my wife verbally in meetings and has examined all the relevant documentation over the past months (it has been a long and detailed process). Eventually he summarised everything in a long meeting followed by a written version of that summary in a letter for reference, if needed. The biggest help has been his advice along with clarification of the options available to me - it feels as if a weight has been lifted from my shoulders and I believe things are now moving in the right direction.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It is early days yet, but the answer is still "Yes", because engaging the services of a professional who has years of experience and who understands the workings of pension funds was always going to be a vital first step in this process.

What could they have done better?

Nothing that I can think of. Douglas is extremely personable and has handled the situation as well as I could possibly imagine, especially given that I had to call a lengthy, albeit temporary, halt to proceedings at one point because of a family crisis that occupied all of my attention.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a few odd company pensions but didn't know what was best to do with them , also my mother went into a care home and I needed to invest her savings to cover costs
